grumpy does it, again!
Can't believe I didn't recognize Vigenere!
IIRC, Six even used the same pic.

Nicely done, grumpy!

I'm happy that my analysis was pretty much on the right track, at least. If I'd gotten around to trying other typical crypto methods on that text I would have stumbled across Vigenere's picture while researching them!

These have been fun, too bad the game appears to be almost over.

It appears as though our friendly neighbourhood puppetmaster may have been captured by the forces of darkness before completing his final mission and revealing his story...
/cry

Perhaps there will be a ransom demand forthcoming soon? Wink

I hope that the ransom demand won't be crypted,
if it is, he will be free "in one or two days", or a cuple of weeks ...

I've been waiting patiently, as well. But the wording of the last screen keeps trying to get me to look at it like it's a puzzle in itself.

A goony idea perhaps, but...

(This is my first post, so apologies in advance for noobie gaffs!)
The help line for this puzzle is 'last clue' which could be construed to be 'previous clue', which is 'be patient'. The page itself mentions the next puzzle appearing in a day or two. Has anyone tried just leaving the page up for a couple of days?

Because it was more effort to go through the steps to get to the stats page. I would just let it sit for days on end and hit refresh(and "resend"), periodically. Never any change. Did the same for a while on the last (1 or 2 days) page also. Same result.
I'd much prefer to think there's a puzzle there we're just not seeing than think the PM has abandoned us. But there haven't been any indications that the former is a possibility.

Possible tie-in with this book?

Since the last hint refers to 'my story' and someone had previously mentioned the trail as a possible commercial tie-in, I checked Amazon's new release section and found the following synopsis (with my emphasis in bold) for Richard Belfield's soon-to-be-in-paperback "Can You Crack The Enigma Code?"...

Book Description
Enter the secret world of codes - from Voynich to Enigma and Kryptos - and unravel a brand new code.

Synopsis
From the earliest days of mankind, people have sought to pass on secret messages via code - and for almost as long, cryptographers have tried to break the codes. Most famous of all were those at Bletchley Park who managed to break the Nazis' 'unbreakable' Enigma code. This fascinating and intriguing book examines some of the most difficult codes in history that have withstood years of investigation and shows the reader how they too can learn to solve or create almost any code. Sometimes, as with the notorious Zodiac Killer or the Voynich Manuscript, the codes remain unsolved, or as with Kryptos in the CIA's headquarters only 90 per cent has been decoded. In the final element of the book, working with a team of top cryptographers, the author has devised his own code, based on the techniques that have been revealed throughout the book, and invites the reader to crack the code...

I'm gonna auto-trout myself here: what was the significance of the Enigma 9 clue ("477330-033688")?

That starts on page 5 of the thread.
Lorient was one of the major sub bases for the Nazis and for an enigma tie-in, there was an episode during the war where a bunch (Number varies from 20-40) of Enigmas were loaded onto a Japanese Sub.

Previously, when we were working our way through puzzles the "PM" dropped hints onto the count page, and there's been nothing there, so I'm pretty sure we've been abandoned. Pity it was a nice little trail.

The figure in the center is a recreational mathematics construct called a Prime Spiral. Here's an applet that generates one in realtime.

I feel stupid for taking so long to figure out who the picture is of, given it's based on the same image as his Los Alamos ID badge.

Stanislaw Ulam was a Polish mathematician on the Manhattan Project who helped work out the integrals in nuclear chain reactions among many other things, like the H-bomb and nuclear propulsion. I mention the chain reactions due to the naming of the pics on the page (All begin with "cr").

The location doesn't look much like Los Alamos, so maybe it's in Poland?
Or possibly a location based on the primes?
I thought "Monte Carlo" would have been a good location, but, alas, No.

ETA: Thought there were errors in the spiral and got all excited, but then I figured out that it just starts with zero. I checked it out to 200 and there were no errors.

Unless one of you Photoshop gurus can make this look more like this and something shows up in the border of the un "un-fish-eyed" version, I can't think of anything else to try.

If you put a metal cylinder in the middle of the image, the stuff on the outside will reflect un-modified on it. I saw it on that Treasure Hunters show, they had a clue that was just like that picture, except there was an image on the outside ring.

I tried running a negative bulge effect on it in Paint.net, but don't really know what I'm doing. Never got it to look like text or anything.
