UPDATE: Meg's blog (Dec 10, 2003)

New entry on Meg's blog http://www.geocities.com/meghanstarkey/:

December 10, 2003

I took a cue from the old song - "Accentuate the Positive" - and decided to straighten things out around here. I've been taking some web design classes lately to keep myself busy, so I put my newfound knowledge to work.

This week I got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It really drove home that there's a tiny little person in there, who doesn't know about doubt or fear. All he or she knows is warmth and comfort. What a fantastic existence! No wonder babies cry when they're born. Jake was sweet when they were searching for the heartbeat. He looked so worried because it took a few minutes to locate, and when we finally heard the "whum-whum-whum" he broke out in his famous big grin that's been so rare lately, then he got pale and had to sit down! I'm sure he would never admit to it, but the big sweetie was on the verge of passing out.

Yesterday I was moving some light furniture around a little bit to see where we could fit a crib, and Jake came home and yelled at me for a good 10 minutes about how I was pregnant and shouldn't be doing anything strenuous, then he made me lie on the couch with my feet up. I wonder just how I'm going to manage to clean the house and cook Christmas dinner for the family with him hovering over me like a mother hen.

And speaking of Christmas dinner, I have to go plan my menu. Jake's parents and my dad are all coming in to spend the holiday with us. I can't wait to see Dad. I haven't seen him since September. I think Jake's boss and his boss's niece are coming over for Christmas Eve, although there's something weird going on there with the niece. I think that relationship is a little strained, but nobody's talking about it. Off to plan!
