OK guys, I have actually gotten somewhere with this. Bu I haven't slved it completely. What I have attatched isan excel spreadsheet with the code, and numbered both ways from top to bottom, we are definitely on the right track. Nunbered in the everse direction from how we are reading the "phase two..." starts with "first", but I must be a tad off on my matrix, somewhere.

"First test of teamwork complete we(')re now ready for the *******"

This is again, doing a slight bit of alteration, but I an't quite figure out what the last word should be. Any ideas?

Das Llama was on the mark in the previous thread. With the phrase "Phase Two Opens with a Hostile Take Ovr" I was able to string in a sequence of letters. C means "Caps" and B meant "Bold" and the numbering system started from Licoricesniper as #1 and all the way to Blessedmercy as #32. Though there really is supposed to be 33 people and only two letters didn't fit the entire sentence (Big for example spelled BRG or something absurd) so since the rest of the sentences made sense but two letters, I simply guessed the rest.

Having an English degree I guess is finally paying off.

Awesome work! Now we just need licoricesniper to email it back to CM.

Zap what was the second phrase? LAST CLUES ARE MERELY THE ?? TO NEXT STEP

I think I'll take care of giving the explanation of this puzzle to the Taylor family on the FET forums. I don't think there's any real reason to obfuscate our findings, the CodeMaster no doubt wanted this to happen, for us to work as a team, and...it was executed flawlessly. Smile

Edit: Truth be told, StarkRavingMad, those missing letters were never used to decode the puzzle. I honestly don't know what the 2nd phrase really is in its entirety. =\

All right, I've finished up weaving the abridged explanation of how we solved this mystery on the FET forums. Since it was the Codemaster's intention to share our findings, I don't think it matters much to obfuscate our recent findings.

Here's what I wrote

Quote:
Salutations Mr. Taylor

As you know the Codemaster has gotten in contact with a number of us through email and left cryptic hints within each of our emails, followed by a secondary email which prompted us to "Follow the Leader".

After thorough investigation of each of our emails we came to the conclusion that within each of our messages contained 2 peculiar letterings: one bold, one capitalized. Those letters by themselves meant nothing, but we hypothesized that, together, they would form a sequence which would then compile a phrase.

So we contacted each other, in which an individual by the moniker of Jabroni created the initial list of corresponding bold and capital letterings starting from the first person of the chain whom we later identified as Ashley to the last individual who goes by the moniker blessedmercy1018. We slowly, but surely, filled up the list until we made a number of links and connections.

In doing so we came up with two phrases, albeit incomplete since about 3 or 4 people have not reached us despite our efforts to contact said people.

Phrase 1, when the Capital Letters were pieced together:

Quote:
Phase Two Opens With a Hostile Take Over

Actually, Phrase 1 was missing some letters but we filled in the blanks and guessed the rest.

Phrase 2, when the bold letters when pieced together:

Quote:
Last Clues (are) a mere L-(something)-TED to next step

Because the 3 or 4 people have not responded yet, as of now phrase 2 is incomplete, although that is subsequent to change whenever the 3 or 4 non-respondents do finally contact us.

Ashley had stepped forward and shared with us her recent interaction with the Codemaster:

Quote:
AshBarker to Sam

saving the best for last, I see?

Take care, you wascaly wabbit.

Ashley

In which the Codemaster replied:

Quote:
Ashley,

Now here's my gift for you:

F C15 C33 B3 B20 C22 C25 B29 C6 C9 F B4 C11 B2 B14 C14 C8 C33 C28 B5 C20 B14 C1 C24 C29 B20 C11 C7 C5 B16 B17 C12 C9 C7 B16 B8 B13 B22 Y F C8 B11 B28 C19 B8 B C23 G C13 C2 B24 C14

When you have it all, email me the answer, you wascaly wabbit Wink

CM

We all puzzled over this for a couple of days.

In the mean time, it was suggested by one of the individuals in our group who goes by the moniker Das Llama that perhaps the 'C' in this code meant the Capital Letters and the 'B' represented the bold, and that the numbering sequence was in relation to the order in which we were placed, with Ashley as #1 and all the way to BlessedMercy1018 as #33.

By order of substitution, I was able to figure out what the coded phrase meant:

Quote:
FIRST TEST OF TEAM WORK COMPLETE WE'RE NOW READY FOR THE BIG SHOW

(Keeping in mind that because we were missing some letters, a couple of words didn't exactly fit but the rest of them worked, so I merely corrected the misplaced letters through simple guessing with a bit of trial and error to come up with the complete, decoded sentence)

So this whole first step of Phase 2 was merely an elaborate plan to make us work together as a team. Admittedly, that plan had worked out flawlessly, as without the help from each other, we wouldn't have been able to complete this process in the Codemaster's latest scheme.

Anyway, I hope this helps Mr. Taylor, we may be a step closer to finding your son Smile

I think I was able to word it enough to still keep it IG, as I've made no mention of this forum anywhere in the post at the FET forum. Albeit I mentioned monikers of the appropriate people but that still hovers around the realm of IG plausibility. I think.

Anyway, that took a bit out of me to write. Time to treat myself to a Scooby Snack. Cool

p.s. Hooray for TeamWork! Very Happy

Good job Zap !

Credit goes to Youthpastor and Wabonan for the capital and bold letter idea and the order thing.

You just happened to read my request for the additional info to be added on to the spread sheet.

Good job to all that were keeping track with the spread sheets !

I should amend what I said previously.

I double checked the decoding and everything fell into place perfectly. I think it was a combination of it being late at night for me, plus the fact that I was a bit excited that I made some mistakes in the decoding process.

Well, everything but one letter. C33 is referencing the last person and thirty-third person in the sequence, albeit there being only 32 people/phase 2 players that we know of. So maybe, just maaaaybe that we were supposed to have just...added in that E in between "Over" which then makes 33 Capital Letters whilst the amount of total bold letters remains 32 since it's a complete phrase.

Or something. I dunno, I'm just thinking outside the box. It didn't say anywhere, nor did the Codemaster imply that there had to only be the same number of letters corresponding to the same number of known players.

Not that it matters much anymore I guess, unless the Codemaster intends to use that list again for future puzzles (although it makes for a good list of contact references in case we need to reach each other, which I suspect we most likely will).

Next time I'll just use my decoder ring. Confused

I sent it a while back and he still hasn't replied. My contacts list for the google chat box shows that he has been online since I emailed him but he has been idle for the whole time. I have been checking periodically but so far no change. I'll let everyone know if he replies with anything.
