My One and a half Cents

We all feel bad for Eric because he's locked up like an animal in a cage. The reason Eric is being punished is only speculated, but still unanswered. The CM seems like a logical person. He doesn't appear to act or think erratically. What if we discover that Eric's crime is more than deserving of this punishment? I mean, none of us know Eric personally. Maybe we'll all become vengeful after discovering what he did. We might WANT him to kill himself. Maybe the CM's actions are justified.

*Speaking of suicide...we had a "jumper" on the bridge just a little down the road from where I work yesterday. I passed by the scene on my way to work. I've never seen anything like that before. He was clinging to the outside of the fence on the bridge. He had the interstate completely shut down for 3 hours. They talked him out of jumping and as he was climbing back to safety, he slipped and fell 15 feet onto the westbound lane of I-80. Isn't that a kicker??

*He broke both his legs and is in stable condition.

my thoughts (& playing catch-up)
[pet]

ok..since i have joined so late..here are my thoughts (which have probably already been thought of...lol)
sins...7 deadly ones...to go with that are the 7 holy virtues..
along with that is original sin...aka ancestral sin, heridity sin, birth sin or person sin.
i think CM as a "thing" for those he feels has committed these offenses..hope i worded that right...
i feel he is all about the religion..but that has been established.
maybe eric (or someone in his family) has committed one or more of these sins?
just my thoughts...
if all this has been thought of and whatnot maybe someone could help catch me up to speed here...
t.

Maybe he neglects his human pets when they're no fun anymore.
Before that he might use them in experiments (nothing critically damaging them) like the one with the pond water. (Yes, that's more like a lab rat than a pet - but who knows the thoughts of that character?)

To be honest, I currently feel like a rat in a laboratory, sitting in a labyrinth, waiting to make the next move....

You're assuming a lot from his answer. From what I understand, you asked him if he had killed anyone, and he said "There are worse things than death." That's not really a yes OR no, especially since we are dealing with someone who obviously has mental issues.

He could mean "I tortured someone to death, which is worse than just death." He could mean "I sent someone to hell, which is worse than just death." It could even be a justification of him murdering people, i.e., saying "Yes, I caused death, but letting someone live in sin is worse than death, so I feel it was the right thing." Or that he's killed but the betrayal done to him was something worse than death. Or his definition of what constitutes killing someone could be different from ours -- like DerKork said, neglecting a pet and leaving them to die in confinement.

We really don't know what he meant by that statement. Don't get me wrong, I don't think your theory that he's driving people to suicide is a bad one or necessarily wrong, but I don't think we have enough information to make a blanket statement like "the CM has never killed anyone" with that kind of 100% certainty. There could be a lot of things going on here and that kind of non-answer doesn't give me enough information to come to any sort of conclusion.

I think he is saving people and showing us pictures of them or their sins metaphoricaly burried. This would explain why no one is missing and why people might not press charges if they were treated harshly in some way.

I cant explain the bloddy knife and sink or the uncovered hand with the ring. That is where my hypothesis falls apart. I guess the pictures could be faked simply to provide a story line for this to become a larger evangelizing tool for the CM or Eric (if he is behind this).

I'm not discounting any ideas away yet, we dont have a lot of proof of what is going on yet.

Well, what if the knife and body aren't his sins, but those of someone else that he is "curing"? I could see the CM being an "avenging angel" type character that is teaching the others a lesson by having them live through their confinements. Kind of a "break them down to rebuild them right" type mentality.

Maybe that's what this is, a story to have us think "what have I done in my life that's not right?".

Thanks to Licoricesniper's emails with the CM we have a new puzzle over on the other Phase 2 page just in case anyone didn't see it yet.

So now we are only missing one letter I think:

Last Clue S_rname Related To Next Step.

So it must be surname right? With the CM making it clear he has nothing to do with TDC, maybe the surname is Taylor, or Hart, or Deercot...

Edit: Didn't Smilebazooka just post before me? Now it's below me I think.

While I like Das Llama"s therory. I gotta go back to basic psychology. When a yes or no question is avoided Esp. one designed to get a direct yes answer...the answer is no. I didn't ask him if there were worse things than death.... I didn't ask a general question ..like have you ever killed..hell we are all killers to some small degree.. every time I walk through the grass in the yard I kill all kinds of small insects and stuff... I love to fish and hunt so I do kill stuff..... No I asked him

Have you ever killed a human?.... The answer is critical... I think everyone else is scared to ask you point blank questions ...lol you know I'm not afraid ....lol
I got a vague response.... Untill I see him holding someones intestines I'm gonna stick to my therory........ lol

When someone avoids answering a basic yes-or-no question, I don't think it means "yes" or "no" one way or the other - it only solidly means "I do not want to answer."

The real question, then, isn't whether or not he's killed; it's WHY he doesn't want to tell us. As a community, we've assumed that he's killed before, especially based on his threat that we decide whether Eric "lives or dies". What does he lose by telling us, flat-out, that he's killed? What does he lose by telling us he hasn't?

Yeah, I think it's definitely arguable - in like with Wabonan's theory - that he loses a lot by telling us a truthful "no". He loses a lot of the power he has over us, and over Eric's family. But conversely, by telling us a truthful "yes", he loses a lot of his mystique, and opens himself up to legal issues. You can't prosecute for "making someone feel really bad", as per the provoked-suicide theory. You can do a hell of a lot more for serial murders.

... which, I suppose, is just a rambly way of saying "We really don't have a clue in hell right now." *blush* Until we learn more about him, or the circumstances surrounding him and Eric, we can't say for sure.

Serial Pet Lover

I believe that being tortured day and day out for something you did, especially in the manner that Eric is being tortured, would in fact be worse than death.

Did you ever wonder if this is some wacko promotion to boost Eric's acting career??? Lol.

Just updating the list since we got pwnt/smilebazooka on the list. Looks like the phrase 2 mystery word is most probably "surname".

Not sure if we'll ever really need the list again, but it's probably a nice little contact list should we need to reach each other for some reason later on in the game.
