Another thing is the counter at the bottom of the registration box. It's going up very quickly tonight -- are we just working super hard to register our friends, or does it do something other than count registered participants?

blaine-all the a's look blue to me; the i's, l's, look burgundy as an example. It looks like only the a's are blue but now I'm blind to everything...sigh

Could the counter be approaching the revelation we'll be receiving on June 12th and they keep ramping up the speed to accomodate?

I see some grey (confirm) and red (em), but the only blue seems to be backgrounds.
Was this comment always in the source?
"this is not a hit counter."
Sure looks like artificial adjustments for the sign-up counter (random amounts at one minute intervals.) to obfuscate the true number of players. It should break 10k at about 7:45pm, PST at this rate.

yeah the "this is not a hit counter" thing has been there forever. I think its an urchin tracker (google- it tracks things that aren't page hits) so a sign up tracker is feasible.
Here it comes: 9991

I don't mind being the go-to guy.
So: Anyone who would otherwise post their key, PM it to me instead. I'll try to get some people to join too, and if I get to ten I'll make a blog post.

Those counters are making me bonkers. The one at the bottom is going up much more rapidly now -- earlier tonight it was about 200 every minute or two, but now it's going up a couple thousand about as frequently. What does it MEAN?

You tell 10 friends and they tell 10 friends... They need a million people to join by midnight on the 12th. Everything is proceeding according to the master plan.

Ya, no way they have that many signups unless they made the front page of some big blog or something. And even then, it's mighty convenient that they fairly exactly hit their goal.

Heh. A few hours ago, I checked and the count was over 50k. Now it's at 11k. Either somebody's algorithms were a little too aggressive or there were a lot of cancellations.

Maybe they meant that as a state of being rather than economically poor.
