I think you may be on to something.

I tried calling Sabrina again. Now that its Day 6, I think the numbers are live. This time, there was a strange click after 2 rings, and the call went through to a Detective Andrew Siegel. He asked me if I've been the one harassing Sabrina.

(Aparrantly, after Frank went to jail, someone has been calling Sabrina non-stop, and threatening her. I think its someone from Akarm!)

I told him that I have information about Frank that pertains to an ongoing kidnapping investigation. He took my info (name, phone number, address) and asked me not to leave town for a few days. The impression I got is that there was going to be some sort of package that was going to be delivered to my home address. Maybe this will be like the google davinci quest, where people got the cryptex in the mail. Except, I don't see how they are going to do this in time, since the game ends Monday night.

Oh please tell me you're not really calling real people. That's not cool.

Well, that Detective name is a real Detective in NY. And that phone number that is supposed to be "Frank's Sister" googles to some other person at a different NY address. I guess it's possible that she freaked out and called the police and it was a real cop JonB talked to. But what's more likely is that someone is messing with him.

Either way, it has nothing to do with the actual game.

AGAIN, this could still be ingame, just not smart because people will abuse this information. We would have to officially hear that it's not part of the game from the company.

ANSWER ME THIS: Why do the cached answers ONLY GO UP TO DAY 6? I bet you didn't notice that!

It may be ingame but again, not a great idea using real info.

Deep Focus: If you want to hire someone who can help you, send me a post! Wink

PS - Looks like a lot of people have just given up

No, there is no possibilty.... this is not part of the game. I actually can't see anything that would even make you think this is somehow related.

Before the game was advertised they must have had all this information (beta-testers, and list of messages) unprotected in the "m8_admin" folder and that's how it got cached by google. That's why it's called admin, because it was intended to stay behind the "curtain" of the game. And, the message cache does go up to day 8 as does testers page.

Even though I haven't been a good example for this with my own share of snooping, I don't think it's right to throw around these people's information and say it might be part of the game. It's just going to cause them unnecessary hassle with emails and calls.

You didn't read my messages. "The ANSWERS" cache only go up to day 6. I posted a screenshot and link to prove it. The last answer is the URL for the video feed with the old URL (x11).

As far as the M8 admin "users," think what you want but I am not convinced.

The Grinder

I agree about the cached answers only going up to day 6. A lot of us have been thinking that the PMs are totally clueless -- but I think we're missing the fact that, in a way, they have done their job flawlessly. Their job was to generate buzz, and get people playing. What better way than to "leak" information to google cache before the game starts? They did tell us to search for names of people in the game -- which leads you to the google cache!

Also, its too much of a coincidence that Sabrina Caulori was one of the first users to sign up, and Frank Caulori (her brother) is totally in game.

20 Jay street is the deep focus headquarters. Check out http://www.deep-focus.net/contact.php. Notice that the picture says Jay street, but the text says Hudson. I think they are trying to throw us off the trail.

My theory is that Deep Focus inc, a real world viral marketing firm, kidnapped Andrew Goodis (a fictional person) to generate Buzz for CourtTV and Applebees -- but they went too far. We are going to find Andrew at one of the Deep Focus locations. I live in Venice, CA, so I am going to do some digging around their Abbot-Kinney location.

I've been calling those numbers, but the people I talk to seem very angry, and generally hang up on me. Why are they so angry, if they are really out of game? I tried calling one man, and saying different in-game names or phrases, hoping he would give me some clue. I couldn't figure out what the right phrase is that we will need to say.
One man started swearing at me (not very appropriate for a family oriented game!), and yelled "Don't call this number you $%@!@ idiot" before hanging up. It seems they are trying to hide something.

I guess we'll find the importance of these phone numbers by Day 8.

LOL I love it! But you have to ask them if they work for DEEP FOCUS! Call 'em all back!

The plot thickens! I knew it was ingame!

BUT did you ask if Sabrina worked for Deep Focus??? That's what we need to find out! Did you call anyone else? Did you get any contact info from the detective? Let me call Sabrina and see if I can talk to him (or her). We HAVE to find out if these people work for Deep Focus! Maybe if we email the detective we'll get an autoreply?!

Look at this!!

http://www.brooklyneagle.com/categories/category.php?category_id=4&id=13318

It mentions Jay Street and Det. Andrew Siegel. So either this is deeply in game, or the detective is real and JonB is going to get his ass arrested! Laughing

I couldn't ask Sabrina if she worked for Deep Focus, since the phone call was diverted. However, I did search for her, and found a webpage describing her. I suspect this is in-game, much like Sonia's blogspot page.

There is a LOT of information and possible clues here. I don't know how we're going to be able to sort through all this new information in just a few days.

Here's some speculation ... what if this game is intented to be longer than 8 days??? i.e. this game is NOT about the Goodis kidnapping, but about the back story of the marketing firm that put this game on?

We already know that

Someone has been harassing Sabrina, by phoning her work phone repeatedly
. We'll have to figure out what happens to her.

It's the ultimate ARG! Even the arrest would be in-game, giving The Grinder the opportunity to question even more NPC's in jail! Razz

Or, Sabrina's a real person, Andrew Siegel is a real detective that's trying to protect her from harassing phone calls from gamers who got her information from the cached Google page, and we are all screwed Smile

This is huge! I knew it!!!

I checked the Brooklyn Daily Eagle article on the Detective. It DOES mention Jay Street and Det. Andrew Siegel. This is either deeply in game, or the detective is real (can you say "lawsuit!") and JonB is going to get his ass arrested! (Like CarrieP said)

I also checked the LinkedIn page on Sabrina Caulori (Frank's sister?) and it says she works for Deep Focus.

Yes, this is a huge development. Someone named Sabrina Caluori works for Deep Focus, the company who created the game. She, a real person, has a brother who is a FICTIONAL character (some 30-40 years older than her). Well, if that doesn't solve it I don't know what does.

OR, maybe, just maybe, the creators wanted to have some of their work reflect themselves, and named a Character after Sabrina? And now this real person is being harassed?

i tried to call the paper to find out how deep this goes and more about the Jay St article, but they are closed right now... so far it looks to me like someone was harrassing miss Calouri, who may have just made Frank's last name the same because of how quickly all this was thrown together...

My theory:
Sabrina Calouri was one of the creatorz of this game and this page where all the phone numbers was not meant to be found. while she may work for deep-focus, she did indeed get sick of people harassing her since everyone knew her and frank have the same last name (which should be her fault for naming an in game character "Calouri"). This detective seems to be a real person and so is the newspaper. the addresses are also real, but not verified as connected to the game. so im not calling anyone, or emailing, unless a puzzle leads me there. so far all this seems extra-curricular and almost bordering, if not fully, illegal. ive never played an arg where the sites needed to be hacked to get real in game info. and even if this was from a google cache, i think it was someones mistake not making it all secure from the beginning. this game isnt as complicated as some people are making it seem. ive played some vvvveeeerrrryyyy complicated args, and never had to research anything IRL(that is never played an arg where in game info would be posted in a real life newspaper, its always a phone number we decode, or a made for the game url, or a fake paper like the voice daily news) so im on the fence here.... and sorry for the long winded post.

EDIT: nevermind, now im confused again... i googled andrew spiegel, and guess what... theres also an Andrew Spiegel who works for court TV Surprised
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://findarticles.com/p/search?tb=art&qt=%22Andrew+Siegel%22

so now i kinda wanna start calling people

Detective Andrew Siegel ==> SEE AW DETECTED, EVIL GRIN

I can't figure out what AW might mean. It must be someone's initials... but who? I've tried searching for these initials in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle articles, but no luck. Maybe the "EVIL GRIN" means the PMs are just messing with us
