UPDATE: www.hcrd.org - New In-Game Website!

Hey guys!

After talking with Addlepated and Magesteff about some of the stuff posted in the forum recently, I went website-hunting and I believe I have found HCRD!

www.hcrd.org

It seems to fit with everything we've read so far... I don't see any puzzles yet, but I haven't delved too deeply into it.

interesting find sin. certainly fits into the theme of things but reverse IP finds out that hcrd.org maybe related to http://www.hiddenalliance.net. if i remember correctly wasnt that another ARG that was/is waiting to be launched. Question maybe acheron and hiddenalliance merged or was always the same thing? Question

That site looks really unfinished to me. There is still a lot of extra crust around the edges, and the pages all haven't been linked together correctly. I'm not sure that we were supposed to find that yet, or that it's even part of this particular game.

Along with the Catalina First pages, we will keep it in the back of the file until we find where it fits in. Still a nice find, and not be reverese lookup. Wink

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There's a hidden login link on the page http://www.hiddenalliance.net/login.html

PS: I think this website is related at the previous ARG (never started) Hidden Alliance, but the old address was www.hiddenalliance.org

HCRD / NSA

Please delete me if I'm getting carried away / talking tripe , but has anyone else noticed that HCRD http://www.hcrd.org/index.html is a replica of the NSA Cryptology site http://www.nsa.gov/index.html?

The HTML for HCRD seems to have been copied directly from the NSA site - I found these meta tags in the HCRD index page:

<META content="The official public Web site for the National Security Agency, U.S. Department of Defense." name=description>
<META content="National Security Agency, NSA, Central Security Service, CSS, NSA/CSS, cryptology, cryptologic, cryptography, cryptographic, Signals Intelligence, SIGINT, Information Assurance, IA, Information Security, INFOSEC, security, technology, National Cryptologic Museum, museum, history, employment, jobs, careers, opportunities, math, mathematics, mathematicians, computer science, engineering, engineers" name=keywords>

I'm guessing the NSA site isn't in-game, so surely it's a bit risky copying a government site?

It may be worthwhile to note the similarity between www.hcrd.org and www.nsa.gov.

AnthraX101

EDIT: Heh, beat me to the post by seconds, lurker. Wink Also note that http://www.hcrd.org/outreach/archomepage.htm was saved directly from http://www.nsaarc.net/. See the source of the first page, second line.

Where's my tin foil hat smiley when I need it??

(and even more off-topic, I have a friend from Leicester. I'll have to tell him I ran across one of his town-mates - he gets so tickled when Leicester turns up randomly)

In case this site changes, and we want to see the original, I've saved the 29 pages I've found to http://tom.cc.wayne.edu/Acheron/in-game/www.hcrd.org

Typos on a government site? Tsk. Here it is before the PM catches it Smile

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you're supposed to be here then you know what to do. If you are hear for any other reason then please be aware that you tread close to the edge of the curtian. If you have an interest in becoming a PM then contact the webmaster directly.

If you think this is a joke then by all means laugh.

The typos didn't just get caught, the site is now 404/underconstruction.

Curious. Maybe the PMs took over the domain from the other ARG?

From acceptance.pdf:
Quote:
If these stipulations are in agreement with your department, I will look forward to your letter outlining our financial arrangements, HCRD research goals, and details of my move to NRU.

And 030103.pdf talks about 'HCRD Agent Jonathon [sic] Clark.'

Regardless of how the HCRD ties into NRU, I'm sure we can expect hours of entertainment from the 'fun puzzles for students'...

interesting notes:

www.hiddenalliance.net, now is a blank page with a "." in the title.

www.hiddenalliance.org doesn't seem to work anymore.

www.hcrd.org still works.

does any of the above have anything to do with the recent "change" in the otherwebsites?
