I'm on the side of believing that AR is somehow part of the Ark on earth, in our time, thus all the halos are still active at this point. A previous commenter spec'd that this might be a way for 'history' to change, and alter some of the story that we know... while I think that's kind of a cop out for the writers, it raises some interesting ideas.

Personally, I think it may be possible that the events with the Halos in 2552 have triggered some forerunner technology waking up this AR entity today, which is in the process of evaluating the situation. So why this year, why now? Dunno-- for the same reason that we had "training events" in various cities just before Halo 2 was released. - At that point it just becomes meta, the only way really to mix a fictional story with the video game. So I'm willing to live with a bit of suspended disbelief about the 'coincidental' date, but I'd love it if there will be an intuitive way they make it more believable.

But part of me is really curious to find out what's up TPTB's sleeves, assuming the experience won't be as close to ILB as I think most people are hoping... But while ILB interacted with the future, with characters from the future, I like that AR is in our current time, bound here. Raises some intriguing potential tasks and developments..

Was ILB.com not taken over by an AI from the future? I must plead ignorance of most ILB lore. I collected every media I could find on ILB, but haven't yet gotten a chance to look it over. Or hear it over.

It was, but the difference here is that this time it seems to be a forerunner (the race that constructed the halos) AI, instead of a human made UNSC AI.

And since the Forerunner AI would be ancient anyway, it would probably exist in the present. Interesting. But would They change the story enough to have an ancient AI talk to us, as opposed to something from the future?

Apologies. Am too much a fan of the time travel-paradoxical situations.

Now's a really good time to start, bud. Throw on some headphones, call in sick, sit back and listen to the mellow, jazzy sound of ILoveBees.

Ladies and gentlemen, this man ... this man is a legend.

You know what a MacGuffin is, right? It's a plot device that you take for granted to get the plot going. As was the case with YearZero and, to a certain extent, ILB, time travel is the MacGuffin here. It's there, and it's sort of integral to the plot's foundation, but it's not something you need to worry your head about. If it becomes really important to the plot, then the GMs will make that clear.

@ Psygene: No apology necessary, I'm sure many of us are a fans of time travel paradoxes (I know I am). And yes, this method of changing the Halo story line (as compared to ILB1, where the AI magically travelled through time with no other explanation than "it's ship crashed") seems far more interesting and feasible to me. I'm really interested to see what happens later tonight, or tomorrow, whenever Arkie wakes up again.

I cannot control the dissemination of information. It is chaotic. I am not perfectly integrated here. When the tipping point occurs, I will do my best to facilitate.

Tick tock.

I don't have to call in sick to work tomorrow. I do believe I can listen to most, if not all, of ILB at work tomorrow.

And looks like theres going to be some dissemination at 1am PDT.

Additionally, tick tock seems to be this AI's personal "Hum" after all, as mentioned earlier.

Five hours until the tipping point occurs. If you've got XBoxLive accounts, jump on there in five hours, as any information is likely going to come from both there and the b.net boards.

We will be ready.

You're wrong. This time, no one will be ready.

Sounds rather ominous. If this is pointed at ARG-ers, quite foreboding really. Are we to expect nothing at all? Could Arkie mean that we're making a molehill out of an anthill?

Hmm. Whats all this now?

Maybe this time around I'll actually be able to participate, instead of lurking and watching. I think I was the only one in the Philly area playing ILB and I could never reach the one axon that was near. And it was one of the few that was never unlocked i think. (odd duck?) Anyway. if this turns out to be something worth playing, count me in.

Stewy signing in...

and out.

Tick Tock was also added at the end of the quote.

Anyone else getting the feeling like we are running out of time?
