Is that an official picture? That armor is sexi, but the glyph is neat too.

well we allready know it now, but look what great tip was allready on the HALO3-site before we all found out about it:

Quote:

"'Halo 3' is much more than a video game release; it's the biggest entertainment event of the year," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business. "On Sept. 25, we intend to deliver a finale that will go down in entertainment history and leave people around the world with an experience that will be shared and enjoyed for years to come."

note how he refers to sept 25 as a finale!
this was posted at "LOS ANGELES — May 15, 2007"

you get this when you click the 'Halo in stores...' button

I still have the feeling that somehow we missed some stuff in the past. As said before, in the documentaries about 42entertainment on gametrailers, they almost literally say that and ARG-clue is hidden within... PLUS one of the 42E-people is wearing a shirt of NIN ( Nine Inch Nailes ) that got their own ARG: http://www.ninwiki.com/Main_Page ( and NIN has a song called HALO Smile http://www.amazon.com/Down-Remixes-Halo-track-EP/dp/B000000GQ1/ref=cm_lmf_tit_1/102-1065600-8296126 )

here's the links to the documentaries ( found all 4 this time! )
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=18786&pl=game&type=wmv <part1>
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=18785&type=wmv&pl=game <part2>
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=18784&type=wmv&pl=game <part3>
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=18783&type=wmv&pl=game <part4>

I mean if the corporate vice president of M$ allready mentioned it a month ago, its pretty plausible that is was allready ongoing at that time!

No, it's fan art. (Though well done fan art indeed.) I don't think it's a valid source of clues.

structure.jpg stegged?

going back to the structure in the screenshots...

who are the steg experts?

xsteg from stegdetect 0.4 says theres a jphide

from teh wikipedia entry on eros:

"His statue could be found in the palaestrae or wrestling schools, one of the principal venues for men to associate with their beloveds, and it was to him that the Spartans sacrificed before battle."

When I run jphide on structure.jpg with "John 117" (no quotes)
instead of "Passphrase wrong" I get "File not completely recovered"
and nothing in the output file.

wishful thinking on an error message or ...?

hmmm... on thinking about it... if this is just a user, then when did he make this? If within in the last couple days, how do we know he didn't just use the glyph in there? If he used a clip from an existing official image, then it could be relevent if it was made in the last day...
the image is hosted at nikon, so could that mean it's official? If it is, then it's possible the original art didn't have the glyph, and it was added in the past day, not of the user's doing...

I wonder where HE found the glyph.

It kinda too new to just add it in on that kind on project.

Blendedecks

Anyone take a look into this user's profile? Seems a little fortuitous that it just shows up hours after we get the glyph...

I backchecked it with the first place I saw the image. It is indeed there.

{Edit:} by "it" i mean the glyph, and I first saw it on Xbox 360 Fanboy. Home of one of our resident Beekeepers ;].

It's about the same location on the Ark Storm's cloud as Adjutant Reflex's icon is taken from.

I have no idea on steg detection, but I'd appreciate it if someone could check that image out for anything hidden.

Just had a quick glance over it with 2 stego's both reported a negative Sad

as to the structure.jpg from earlier I've increased my crack dictionary from 58,000 to 1,600,000 and my PC is chomping though it atm, I'm still convinced it was a false negative but I won't be the one who gives up trying until I've put the whole oxford dictionary and all posible connitations though it Very Happy

I feel like a jackass for asking, but is the file your working on downloaded before, or after the update. It would suck if they swaped the old one out and put up a new one.

Good questions. I'll have to go have a look-see.

The hosting on nikon just means that Louis is taking the server-load off of the artist's site. Front-page mention on HBO tends to kill users' bandwidth with terrifying rapidity.

-- Steve'll also remind folks that HBO is fan driven; it may have close ties to Bungie staff, but it's not owned or operated by Bungie Studios.

so i looked at 2 of the pics on halo3.com... the blackened "sb_landscape-1.jpg" and the last one, "structure.jpg".

-sb_landscape looks to have something in the moon, maybe another glyph?

-i took structure.jpg into photoshop and blew the levels out and got this...

click here to see the image at http://www.heavyness.com/dump/structure_levelup.jpg

...notice the noise on the bottom and top. now, most .jpg files will have this when there is a dark color boarding around. but i did some test, and i never got jpg artifacts that bad and far into the black.

could be nothing.

It's interesting. I wonder if there are any sat photo analysts in the forums? If there is anything to that we need some very detail oriented folks to pick it out.
