So it looks like "Iris" did indeed trigger all this (From the Bungie forum) in the conversation with AG

Who's to say they didn't program AI's to "seed" the Earth after they wiped out all sentient life?

Well lets see, the machines are building something in Africa.
Assumption 1: its the ark
Assumption 2: considering that the ark is linked to the fail safe if a halo cant fire then the ark was made before the halo were fired

This suggests that earth might have been seeded by the forerunners or it might not have, all it really does is widen the gap between us and them.

Yup base 7. But this begs the question what kind of a time format is it following 60 seconds 60 minutes 24 hours 365 days?

Yeah, it's just following base 60, which makes it a lot easier to calculate the actual time it's counting down to.

I did some calculations, and the countdown in base 60 time is for 5 days 11 hours 5 minutes x seconds as of now. It's 12:54pm on the 15th where I am (Sydney, Australia), which means the countdown finishes at midnight on the 21st.

Does everyone have the same time? Or is it running off our computer clocks?

This is so much fun! I never really got into ILB, but I can see myself enjoying all of this.

I am going to analyze the flash clock code to see if i can detect a correct base for the time countdown.
I will post everything I find as soon as I am done.
(I am going to be really sleepy tomorrow morning at work, lol)

I wonder if the countdown is based on the computer clock. It is base 7, but its still in our time format, so its 6 days and 1 hour from now. No need, its base 7 everything works out. 6 days 33 hours 113 minutes 113 seconds. Ok its an assumption on the hours, but we will see that in an hour, wait 33 hours or 32, i think 33.

Yeah. I'm getting the same problem. I'd be amazed if that many people where trying to access it.

What's this in the source of the website @ 206.16.223.65

I'm no website-pro but when I see a "hidden" code it makes me wonder what all that jabber is.

Also, where is the relation from 206.16.223.65 to 206.16.223.63? Did I miss that.... ?? How did someone find/get the .63 address?

Most of the links appear to be unrelated to the actual game. Could be hidden info, but they all look like legit sites, so who knows.

I could be going nuts, but did the countdown page just beep when it hit the hour?
