i think any mention of society of the ancients that predates today should be considered very carefully.

Edit: grok is from "Stranger in a strange land" by Robert Heinlein. It probably has nothing specific to do with this ARG since it has almost a cult status to sci fi fans out there.

I am stealing this description because i cant really explain grok that well

Quote:
When you claim to 'grok' some knowledge or technique, you are asserting that you have not merely learned it in a detached instrumental way but that it has become part of you, part of your identity

Carefully, as in doubtfully?

Would it be over the PMs heads to have orchestrated this whole thing months in advance? The simple mention of it makes investigating it worthwhile, don't you think?

Yeah, this is clearly ARG city and moving fast. Separate threads for each new development would be helpful.

We've got:

Halo3.com

AR at Bungie.net

The SOTA website

The Countdown website

and

The Myspace Blog

Do you grok is a clever phrase from Stranger in a Strange Land, where the protagonist declares he is from Mars. I am not going to ruin a great book for anybody, but that phrase is widely used and many of the search results for that phrase will be off topic of the ARG and not part of the game.
Unless Bungie gets google to budge just a little bit and alter the search results. Surprised

EDIT: Sorry, was beaten to it. Very Happy

I don't have any idea how we got that application form, but as I stated earlier, we logically shouldn't get any info out of it until at least the 30th, which is when the new lunar cycle starts...

I agree, a way to organize our thoughts would help, especially because all of this just popped up within the last couple of hours.

Well i said carefully not doubtfully or eve implied that i doubted it. With care i implied that we should do our best to follow through with it and investigate as throughly as we can. I should have said thoroughly i guess, sorry.

As you can see I am new, but didn't NIN have their own thing going on?

Sorry. didn't mean to come off harsh. Very Happy

On a different note, It'd be nice to find out how people are finding these things, with no apparent clues.

If you look near the bottom of the page, you'll see the ad that has a familiar glyph and the link that we found too damn early.

I do hope that Bungie and Trent Reznor haven't joined ARGs. Confused That would be terrible. But who knows. The entire NIN connection first spawned from a guys t-shirt in the 42entertainment TV show spot. I do not htink that connection is very solid at all.

Antikythera mechanism

Hi there,

Lurker coming out of the shadows. I just wanted to let everyone know that the Antikythera mechanism is a real thing. I have a friend who works at the New York Acadey of Sciences. They did a podcast on it. On this page, if you go down to May 11, you can download it:

http://www.nyas.org/snc/podcasts.asp

Out.
