Somehow I think that myspace page is fan-made.

From his actual profile info (and not the blog) he seems like a recent high school grad. Also, the major in assassination / minor in ninjutsu from high school lends credence to how he's going to regret posting that stuff once people start pummeling him with messages.

Finally, he's in Ohio and the people he's mentioning partying with (SOTA) are in Illinois...I don't think he'd be that flippant about a 5-7 hour drive to just hang out.

I agree completely. Bungie and its subsequent team who are handling this game are better than to miss something like that, or even use some of the references and items listed in that page.

There's an interesting comment string on that newest blog. Someone is contacting him regarding the broken registration at SOTA and he is replying with answers. Looks legit to me.

I am on the East coast, so I am making a request to have someone from the West coast call this Avery guy at about 12:00 noon to see if he picks up.
Someone has already called the number, but it was late at night and no one answered. (With good reason I suspect they were asleep)
If someone could call at 12:00 PST, then I think it would give us more conclusive evidence that the number was indeed down or not responsive.
Thanks! Very Happy

Also agreed. It's quite feasible that he may just be perpetuating the arg by 'role playing' his part... there's no reason to think he's ingame at this point. Everything he posted is based on what we already know.

And some of the things his is posting are pretty ambiguous. Talking about group meeting in Boston that have suddenly stopped convening all of a sudden because they are working on the "robot" he talks about. All pretty coincidental and perfect to hide the fact that he is hoaxing us.

looks like we should try and look up Nadege DeCastro... he uses a mac!

Edit: having trouble getting in the text from extracting text from the pdf.
edit2: got it.

I was looking at this last night too. Based on what I found Nadege (who is actually a she) works for AKQA who were the people behind the site design of www.societyoftheancients.com

I think at this point the general consensus is that this is behind the curtain stuff.

.....are you asking us?

Wink

yeah we're not sure why sota.com doesn't work yet. Likely a missed web server setting, and it's pointing to a different IP than societyoftheancients.com. So you're not alone, no one can see anything there

New Myspace blog

By a SOTA guy, mentions finding a robot, ala the ones in the comic, I figger.

Posted on args.bungie.org, by someone who found it via bungie.net

Seriously sketchy. If someone can find a legit reference to this from canon, I'll believe it, but look at the myspace name, if nothing else.

Seriously sketchy.

Vash - that is either intentional because it's supposed to look sloppy and prod you to look deeper (for instance, there IS an email address in the source, the "doyougrok at societyoftheancients.com"), or it is their way of making SURE we do not jump too far ahead - they may add it in later.

I believe the former is true

Haha Thank You! I was reading some of those posts thinking "I wonder what my old boss would say if people thought she was male cause they didn't recognize the name"

So are we going with a 12pm PST contact timeframe for Avery's phone number? Did anyone try again after the initial attempts last night?

Addendum: Was anyone able to glean anything from a stegdetect on that questionable picture in Avery's Portfolio?
