[EMAIL] [PUZZLE] Time we got to know each other better

Just received the following:

Quote:

Dear Emily,

It is time we got to know each other better. All relationships take work, and this one is no exception. If you wish to know more about me, you must tell me about yourself first.

Codemaster

17 19 1 16 3 15 12 24 13 23 12 24
10 1 11 24 4 18 0 10 0 16 12 17

Let's do some code-cracking! EDIT: Definitely not a substitution cipher; translated it to letters and attempted every ROT on it. Nothing.

Yeah, I got the exact same thing. Mine was actually his reply to me asking if Eric was still alive. Absolutely no clue what to do with it now though.

Yep I got it with the same code, but posted it in the Phase 2. It should definitely get a thread though... He replied to my message about battlecat, so I don't think it has to do with what we wrote. Looks like vig to me, and cypto tool thinks the key is 4 letters. I've tried Hart, but I dont think it decodes to anything.

It should be a surname. This could be the next step from the last puzzle.

oh ho ho good call! perhaps we should all just try it as a vigenere with the last names we used? (or someone could collect last names, or some such.)

Alright thanks to Nicole's test messaging prowess, she let me in on what's going on. So being the addict I am I threw on clothes and drove to Denny's. I opened the ol' email account and this was waiting for me.

my message

In a hurry, got class in 1 hour. Anyway, my message was the same, but I got 2. One in response to, like youthpastor, about Eric being alive or dead. The second one had follow the leader email along with it. Nothing was changed however, but I did forward it to nachuro before I came here. Don't have time to try anything until tonight.

here it is

Here's what I replied. This is the first time I've actually been involved with an ARG, so I'm a mite excited. Roar.

And as for the code - maybe a ROT that becomes a ceaser box? just a hunch.

Codemaster,

Not much to tell to be honest. I grew up in a small town in Ohio (Hillsboro, to be exact), graduated high school, and enlisted in the US Navy. I was a Cryptologic Technician Collection specialist. After a career-ending knee injury, I was honorably discharged. I have been married once, divorced once (yaay!), and work in Human Resources for one of the largest privately held trucking companies in the US. I am 25 years old, and I enjoy football, boxing, and any kind of sparring I can get into. I'm terrified of spiders. I love Killian's Irish Red.

If you'd like to know more, I'm here.

Ian

Now, as for the code at the bottom, I haven't cracked it yet. But it's not Hex, or Binary, Or Ascii, or Base64. I'm still trying to figure out what it could be.

I haven't e-mailed him back yet. I was trying to wait and see what I came up with the numbers.

Doubled Posted, Oh well.

I tried solving it with the same pattern as Ashley's Gift, yeilding nothing. Any other ideas?

This is "rot'd" all 13 possible ways. Each is below the column. You should see what I mean when you look at it

Got the same Email, replied with:

Well, what would you like to know? As you know, my name is Michael Reppenhagen. I am 18 years old and live in Harwood, MD. I work at an ice cream store, and will be beginning college in the fall. I plan on majoring in communication. I enjoy all kinds of music, and love watching movies, sitcoms, and sports, mostly Washington Redskins football. I drink a lot of lemonade, and consist pretty much solely on Hot Pockets. My favorites are probably of the calzone variety.

If there is anything more you would like to know, feel free to ask! I am glad to share.
