And I'd be more worried if it were on "low" instead of "high". Razz

you may be right. a lot of them (nvm actually all of them) dont seem that... relevant. but at least we know that that translation chart works

 		I was about to say that it might be a star chart. When I look at it, it kind of reminds me of the rock from FoR. If you haven't read, DON'T LOOK AT THE SPOLER!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The spartans go to Cote D'Azur to detonate the covenant overrun city with a tac-nuke. They find the base of operations is in the natural history museum. There's a rock there with gemstone(?) deposits that the covenant are checking out. It turns out that it's the position of Halo, and when Cortana follows the coordinates, they end up at the beginning of halo 1. It's described as looking much like the BG on our friendly countdown page. I wonder if it has any significance?

maybe. what do the captions mean then? i wonder. again, if anyone has covie text, i can translate it. im getting pretty fast. i can get about 1/2 of the letters without having to look them up.

 		But if the BG in the countdown is one of those, we do not possess a super computer AI to go through countless starcharts to find allignment patters. I think for us and this game, that background is not a map. Sadly. I wish it was, that would just be cool to find a link all the way back to the Fall of Reach in this ARG.

 		[SPEC] The Ark of the Covenant
Uber-wild speculation here:

Seems Halo 3 will revolve much around the mysterious Ark. There has already been speculation that the object found in Africa by SOTA may be the Ark. Reading through some of the theories on HBO, I came across a post by user Jillybean. The theory examined the possibility of the "Ark" being a reference to the biblical "Ark of the Covenant"—a weapon—instead of the more commonly held belief of it being like Noah's Ark—a vessel to protect life from the "Flood" (invading enemy of the Forerunner):

The Jewish "Day of Atonement" is Yom Kippur.

Yom Kippur falls on the 10th day of the 7th month (there's that 7 again). Plotting that date on the Gregorian calendar, Yom Kippur falls on September 22nd this year, three days before the Halo3 launch date (it falls on September 30th in the year 2552, if interested).

Remember how ILB concluded with the events that essentially opened Halo2? Is this a repeat? Perhaps the Ark will be activated on the 22nd?

Again, quite a bit of speculation there. A boy can dream, can't he? Smile

The hard part of calculating starcharts is rotating and folding them to account for the position in another part of the galaxy. Since the star chart is probably written from the POV of earth, I bet we could match it to a constellation if we try hard enough. Then all we have to do is compare it to info we already have. No AI required.

The reason that I think this has some significance is that Arkie has already shown a knowledge of Greek and Roman history (Iris, Crysoptera, etc). I wouldn't be surprised if it knew a thing or two about constellations from the POV of earth, and what it meant to ancient cultures.

 		Probably nothing, but I made a transparent overlay of page-bg.jpg to see if there's a constellation correlation (say that three times fast).
