somebody probably went into an epileptic fit.

I checked out the background image (http://societyoftheancients.com/sota_images/a-startile1.gif) and then thought, "Hey, why not try "b" and then "2" instead of "a" and "1"." b turned up nothing but 2 gave me this.

Probably nothing yet but I thought I would post it anyway.

interesting. if thats not meant to be there, it should have been removed, but as we saw with the AKQA sota site, maybe they're rushing and forgetting tidy up?

if it IS meant to be there, why?

dude that video is CRAZY. wow thats so cool. Okay I guess we better start working on the flier and trying to figure out where it leads us. I'm going to zoom in on the images and check them out. Someone should concentrate on the words/actual text

(Man it would suck if these people were fakes and went through all this effort to sabotage....)

EDIT: hmm, on second thought I thikn I got too excited and it probably leads us nowhere except sota.com, damn it sucks to be ahead of the game. nevermind i take that back, could be worse huh

The stars are all in the same places and all seem to be there. That makes the only difference the color.

all answers are found on the site and can be figured out via THE RAZOR thought process

Hey buddy, take a number! Have you seen some of my "theories"?

Besides Odina Nova (which seems to be dead again) I haven't played other ARGs. I feel like I've been surrounded by idiots since 2004. It's good to be back in the presence of the smarter than me beekeepers. Ok, Ok... you new guys are smart too. Smile

Now back on target ("Stay on Target!" -x-wing dude that dies in Star Wars)

As for the starry background, I think it was Anton P. Nym/Steve who pointed out that if you hit ESC (short cut for the Stop function) it make them stop flashing. (who'duh thunk it?)

If you're going to stick around here, you should probably get used to being surrounded by people that are as smart or smarter than you.

Like me. Wink

Anyway, as this is my first post for the Halo 3 ARG I'd just like to say hello to all and I look forward to embarking on this journey with all of you.

As for this matter I'm gonna go with my first impression that this protest thing is IG because 5 days is a short time to concoct such a hoax. I'm sure we'll see an update on the SOTA as to why the protest took place or something to that effect.

SOTA Website

Finally I get caught up with everything. I hope someone here takes seriously what I have to add.

As several people have noticed about the SOTA website there are spelling errors. I read through and noticed SEVERAL spelling errors, mostly missing letters. Is it possible the the missing letters are clues. I've taken part in an ARG before that used this method.

Besides the 'bee' example here are some I found just by perusing the pages again.

Quote:
The Society of the Ancients is not a cult. We are not an anti-government group, quack pot religious commune or Sci-Fi readers circle. Our purpose is to collect and pass on information that has led our members to a unique understanding about human history and its relationship to a gracious (an technically advanced) ancient alien race.

Quote:
Our very first bit of evidence is the scientific principle often expressed as lex parsimoniae, better knows as Ockham's Razor.

Quote:
What is simpler to explain, that ancient humans made extreme leads in technology and social advancement for no reason what so ever?

The Round nature with counterpoints seems to bee an ancient theme.

FINDINGS- The message boards are still out on this piece. One of our members came across a website that also contains this symbol (206.16.223.65) but it's much to early to determine if this is valid evidence of Ancients.

Quote:
When I first started SOTA in 1995, I was living in Santa Fe, NM. A neighbor (Aaron Elliot, our current SOTA membership chairman) and I were talking during a backyard BBQ when the conversation turned to a book series (bought on TV and popular at he time) dealing with unsolved ancient mysteries.

Quote:
Not long after that meeting, I became engrossed in the research that led me to the Ancients theory. Books, video, radio, anything I could find I obsorbed.

Quote:
"I have been over the years very skeptical like many others [about extra terrestrial existence]. But in the last ten years or so, ~I've come to realize that the evidence is building up to make this a valid and researchable question."

Quote:
Well, Mr. Mitchell's words made an impact on me. Perhaps not a kick in the teeth impact but they left a dent non-the-less.

I know it is very possible that some of those are simple typos, however leads instead of leaps is not a common typo. Neither is knows instead of known. Perhaps the misspellings will lead to a password or the real email address.

Also, these two sentences seemed fairly out of sorts with the rest of the writtings on the page....but I can't put my finger on what seems odd about them.

Quote:
"If these words made an impact with you, no matter how small, then maybe you would like to hear more of what we are talking about."

Please take the time to consider our points. There are others out there with the same questions, and a few with the answers.

EDIT: I also think that is a much simpler solution than trying to crack into the data of the images....thus appealing to Ockham's Razor.[/quote]

Seeing as we only found the SOTA site because of random investigative IP addresses, this might have been the way they originally planned to show us.

Avery could be ITG too, but we just don't know.

True, thats not a bad assessment to think that their recourse in this situation is to stay with their script and pretend we didn't find sota early. It might not be the best recourse but it looks like what they're doing.

Just to be complete we should probably look at the ones that were mistyped also. For instance the missing/added/incorrect letters sequence should start NN...etc.

But now I realize that we have to decide if we include the incorrect letters or the letters that would make the word correct..... Opinions?

If we go with the incorrect letters then the sequence starts NSS...
But if we go with the letters that would make the words correct it would start NNS...
