what about the maps that were in the BETA? it seems to me there would be some kind of links to the ARG in the beta too then... (if they would put links in HALO2 maps and stuff)

since we had no clue it was ongoing at the time, nobody really looked for it though and I don't know if we're still able to get onto those maps at this time...

the images don't really strike me as anything from the beta, all there was in the beta was a forrest-esque map, a snow covered map, and, the closes thing that would resemble something from the map, a desert-esqus map. don't forget there are new maps for halo 2 on xbox live.

yeah, one of which is 'Desolation', which has the same corridor as in the email AND looks like this from the top:

as said by that guy on the bungie forum that I posted earlier, seems just a tad too much of a coincidence, no?

 		looks like we'er going to have to wait until july to download the maps for free to see if anything is there, and if anything is not there well atleast we got 2 free maps Very Happy

 		Well, AR did not take over the Weekend Update. Eccramer should be feeling better now. There is nothing overt in the Weekend Update(as hoped). I figure even less than nothing, covert. But, a second or third set of eyes would not hurt.

 		Derelict and the Symbol
Take the overhead view of Derelict and Transpose the symbol over it and see if it matches up. Looks close to me but I don't have the right software.

This is indeed possible. I know that Zanzibar will change one of the textures on a sign on certain holidays:

On 07/07, the "No Swimming" sign has a poster taped over it with a picture of a decapitated dog's head, it reads "Are you finding Ling-Ling head?" This is a reference to an ongoing Bungie joke about needing the head to rule the world. It may also be a reference to Linglin, a Grunt stationed on Installation 04, who was apparently decapitated by the Chief.

On 10/31, it is a warning sign reads, "Danger, Carnage Zone" and shows a guy getting disemboweled.

On 12/25, it reads, "Danger, This Soffish, DO NOT EAT!" and shows a Soffish (toy) fish on a dinner plate.


I think some other maps may have similar 'Easter Eggs', but I don't remember...
It's dependant on your XBox's time, not anything else, so if you change your date you can see them on any day.

well I don't have HALO2 at home, but if somebody does, maybe they should change their system date to 21 june 2007 ( or beyond ) and go check out that Desolation map?

nope, doesnt fit; i have it saved in the PSD format if anyone else wants a go with it. this is the best fit i could get it at.

I fired up the old XBOX and messed around in the Derelict map looking at all the walls. Then I changed the date in the xbox's settings and loaded it up again to see if anything changed. I didn't notice anything different.

OFFTOPIC: That level is very creepy to play in by yourself.....lots of creepy noises.
