Don't want to get too out of game here, but how do we know this? I know that http://www.akqa.com has definitely been involved, but it's entirely possible that akqa was contracted to do some web design for the game while 42 does the actual management of the game. Unless I missed some other proof that has been found that 42 isn't involved.

Does anyone have AR's first avatar image saved from bungie.net? It was a segmented ring on a blue background IIRC.

Here ya go:

It's a standard B.net avatar, originally taken from a map of Halo encountered in the Halo:CE level The Silent Cartographer.

We don't know for certain that 42 isn't involved. However, I don't think it's ever been their modus operandi to hire their work out to other companies. It may be that akqa is just fronting for them to give us the strict impression that this is NOT ILB 2, but there's not much point to that. Either 42's ILB characters are involved, or they aren't - and we're going to know that by the 21rst anyway.

Oh, and 42 is never, ever sloppy. Okay, they were sloppy once, but that was three years ago, and we've sorta all repressed it. pawn.wav

Just trust me. You'll know soon enough.
42 has been brought up and discussed since the beginning. Anyone who's experienced 42's games knows this isn't 42.
But yes, this is quite meta and essentially irrelevent to the experience...

I'm praying it's not 42, as that will give me a glimmer of hope that the Year Zero ARG isn't over.

Year Zero is over for now. It will resume when it is time to do the marketing for Year One.

Here's my proof that 42 Entertainment is in fact behind this ARG.

Many of you saw the Game Head interview with 42 Entertainment that is available in multiple segments on gametrailers.com. It was supposed to contain some clues about an ARG. They were specifically asked if 42 was working on an ARG for Halo 3 and they basically said "no comment", which is to be expected.

Anyhow...

Here's the Tattoo girl - people mentioned that she seemed to stand out clearly as a clue. Someone else noticed the tattoo resembled Adjutant Reflex's original avatar. I noticed too, and think this shows clearly that it is in fact that ring shape, just rotated.

Please see the animated gif for a transition between the two.

It should be noted, other people have pointed this out, I'm just showing it clearly. Also, someone pointed out that ring shape is a commonly available avatar icon and originally comes from the map shown in Halo's campaign.

[EDIT] Dropped a linebreak in two of the attachment comments. Apparently, the forum doesn't cut those off, and they ended up stretching the page. --Giskard

Nice. I wouldn't call it concrete evidence by any means, but it certainly raises the probability a few notches.

Someone had mentioned that there may be covert clues hidden away during the pre-show trailers or some such for Fantastic Four 2. Unfortunately I was unable to spot anything, even though I was in-theatre early enough to catch the theatre's "elevator" music.

Addendum: Nice catch Falagard2.

42 might not be sloppy, but if they have their hands full with other ARGs, it's possible they needed a bit of help from another company for mundane things like web design, and the sloppiness (akqa leaving an employee's name as the author inside an image on the societyoftheancients site, as well as akqa leaving up a development copy of the societyoftheancients on their server, which was subsequently found) isn't 42's fault.

*shrug*

Like I said, it doesn't change how the game is played. This Is Not A Game Wink But it does leave me hopeful that 42 are the PMs behind the game, and that it'll turn out better for it. Also, Game Head said some clues might be found within the interview video, so perhaps there's something else in there as well.

I experienced ILB all the way from the beginning Wink
You have to admit, the above image is pretty compelling. It's not concrete, but it would be a pretty big coincidence if 42 wasn't involved and yet had a tattoo of the same map from Halo that AR used for his avatar when he first contacted us.
