Meghan sent no reply for me yet.
I still think it was planned, but they shut down the whole computer
instead of just the in-game sites - this way the browser reports server or DNS error. If the computer would be up then the browser request would be forwarded to it resulting in a 404 or something.

Yes, the entire server is down, no HTTP daemon at all, nor other ports. Keep in mind that changing the DNS records is probably out of their hands right now, so they couldn't verry well make those dissappear.

This is quite disheartening.

Site changes

Ideas: Everything is down because of national security concerns

Remember there were security exercises planned for over winter break at NRU? Maybe the government just sort of took over and shut everything down.

We know that NRU is basically a government research facility operating under the guise of a university; we know Acheron/Cyper-Systems are government related; we know that huge amounts of money at the First National Bank of Catalina comes from the government and I have guessed in the past that the law firm is a front for the government (which is why I think Landau is Caretaker)

The other sites could have been taken down for the same reasons,Coyote Dispatch - to stop information, etc.

As to the Blogs - either the respective authors are editing them for their own reasons (or because they have been told to ) or someone else is changing them. Meg seems that she would be more easily controlled by the government (an agreement by the govt to drop the lawsuit against Jake if she edits, her job, etc.) than John/Reggie ( who the last we heard was still on the run with Caretaker.)

I can't believe everyone missed this.

It has to be a brainwash, because NRU must still exist.

How do I know? Because you can still buy an official NRU beer stein. Wink

at least for me, the DNS entries for www.acheron.us, coyotedispatch, nru, et al no longer exist. so they went all the way on this. just took a few days for the DNS entries to go away.

www.collectivegamingexperience.com and www.thisisnotagame.com have been removed as well. I understand the others, but why the two out-of-game sites?

For those that care, I have most of the sites web pages stored at "http://tom.cc.wayne.edu/Acheron". About the only thing I don't have copies of are the "php" files, although I have the html output the php files generated.

About NRU being built in this timeline too:
What if "destiny" exists. I mean there are things that must happen no matter what timeline it is.
In this case Jake had to go away for a period no matter it is coma or time travel.
It might also mean that NRU exists only because Turgenev and Jake has to meet and create the time machine?
Maybe in every world Jake and Meg's relationship is doomed not to understand each other?
Or is destiny only applied only to our old Jake, and his appearance in this timeline cause NRU being built because he is destined to do something there?

It's just speculation, but I had to write it down somewhere.

The entire -server- is down. That means that any sites on it are also down.

The server has been down for some time. Removing the DNS entires for these servers are new. I understand removing the in-game sites from DNS, but why remove the out-of-game sites as well? It just confuses things.

1) Were the DNS names for the in-game and out-of-game sites removed because the server is down, and it has nothing to do with the in-game plot.

or

2) Were the DNS names for the in-game sites removed to reflect the new time line where these hosts never exists. But if this is the case, than the DNS names for the out-of-game sites should still exist!

I think the meaning behind this is #2, but by deleting the out-of-game sites as well, the PMs are confusing things (at least to me).

Could just be with the server down there was nothing at the other end to tell the DNS to keep them current. Or it could be that the PM we knew about is finally locking down the curtain and ramping this up to a new level of "TINAG." I suggest watching Cafe Press and seeing what happens to the swag available Wink
