Sounds about right.

Auras, perchance I did miss that English section, but others, earlier on, had begun posting Google translations of the Japanese versioned site so that we may troll it. I distinctly remember going directly to the Japanese version when I entered www.averyfane.com, but alas my memory is not what it used to be.

All I am wondering is if it is a significant development that the English version appeared.

The English version was there as soon as we found it, the grpahic for the link wasn't there but the link was active.

Hey guys I am at a conference in LA right now. I am keeping tabs on the forums, but wont be active again until Monday, so if anything comes up that deals with networking, web code, etc. that no one else here can figure out, just PM me and I will try and work on it on and off during the next couple of days.
I hope there are new developments by Monday!

Cheers!

P.S. - That guy in the protest pic in vancover does indeed seems to be Avery. It seems he is ingame after all!

Hired actor

The difference technically is the use of a real name or not. In this, it appears that Avery Fane may be his real name, in which case, his entire life is not ingame. So we need to be respectful and cautious what we consider ingame and not; there is a line to be drawn.

Ocular Effect went through a similar situation with hiring real people to act in the story; some players took it too far and started dabbling in other personal lives because they were connected to the actors. They signed up for it, so they're ultimately accepting the results, but we need to be respectful of that.

Now, if Avery Fane is a character name and not his real one, then go nuts Razz Anything connected to "Avery Fane" would likely be considered ingame.

tis all

Odds are this is pretty much useless, but I figured it would be worth a post. I found that http://societyoftheancients.com/sota_images/a-startile2.gif is also in the image directory on sota. Doesn't look much different, but it could have a clue I guess.

about the same time we found out about halo3.com/comic. Some of the more attentive posters here have constructed a timeline (sorry man i didnt remember your tag). But the entire point is that at the end of the comic we got the 206.16.233.65 ip and through brute force we stumbled onto sota because it was at 206.16.233.63, then some one googled sota and found avery fane

When is the countdown supposed to end, because i've been watching it for awhile and i don't know if it will end on the 20th or 21st. Also the background for the countdown is also the background-type thing for bungie's dot on theire "i"

Wait, something just hit me. We found the countdown becase it was in the comic and everything about it is pointing to the game. But, the SOTA site mentions that they found the symbol on the countdown site except there is no clear appearance of the symbol anywhere.

By setting the local clock on our computers to 11:59pm on 06/20/2007, we found that the countdown reaches zero at exactly 12:00am on 06/21/2007. Yes, we had tested this so as to see if the background changed when the countdown hit zero, but nothing happens.

Compared the background, of the transmission page, to the "I" animation for "bungie", and could not find a direct match. Mayhaps if colors were altered and contrasts lowered there would be a slight match?

Addendum: Someone had mentioned that there may be covert clues hidden away during the pre-show trailers or some such for Fantastic Four 2. Unfortunately I was unable to catch anything, even though I was in-theatre early enough to catch the theatre's "elevator" music.

Here's the countdown image changed up a little, I'm really not that great with this type of stuff. Picture the black as white and this will look like the close-up of the "I" dot in bungie in Halo 2.[/img]

The easy answer is simply to convert the numbers from base 7 to base 10, and it's a standard 24 hour, 60 minute, 60 second countdown to 12am June 21.

Of course, unless you know how to convert number bases, then I guess it's not the easy answer Razz

my current running theory is that when the clock runs out, one of the servers on halo3.com will unlock allowing us to see the media files one of our resident web sleuths was able to discern were there
