[INTERACTION] PM from GetMEout

After things got a little confrontational I fired a PM to GetMEout to try a softer approach. Here's what I got back:

I'm contacting you through PM because the forums are a little... heated just now.

I can understand that you weren't eager to share the details of an encounter which sounds like a fairly unpleasant experience - that said, there are serious things at stake here. I know you know that already.

So, in the spirit of moving forward, I wonder if you'd lay out a precis of your relationship with BA. How did you get in contact with her initially? Did you just show up on her doorstep based on the information found on bseeingu.com? Did she give any information that might lead us to another player in this macabre game?

And - because it's important - what did you say to make her cry?

*fans self* I'll do the best I can, Ill. (Heh, Ill. Sweet.)

I didn't have any idea what I was doing. I just... went. I just got in the car and hit the gas, pointing south. I ended up down in Florida. Cassadaga. A strange little city. Where else can you find a hotel/psychic center? I'm thinking that what it needed was some sort of "massage parlor" added into the mix and it would have been great for Vegas. If they didn't take themselves so seriously there Confused

I drove around and around the city, looking for some kind of hint to what I was doing there. I mean, like, why did I feel the need to go? I still don't know the answer to that. But I did, and the reasons why may keep eluding me. Anyway. I parked downtown. Or what I thought was "downtown." And then I just started asking questions. I eventually found her place. She eventually answered the knock.

She didn't mention anyone else in particular. She talked mostly about her dreams. "Nightmares" is how she referred to them. I asked her if she was doing some kind of art project with our dreams, but she just looked at me strangely and answered "no" with an implied "you sick bastard" tagged onto the end.

Later in the night, after so much talk my head was spinning, I blamed her. I blamed her for what happened, what is happening, and for what's to come. I blamed her for not helping. For not knowing. For not understanding. For not giving any answers.

It made her cry.

K

There's still a lot he's playing close, I think. He just said "aaaaAAH SCREW IT I GOTTA DRIVE" and wound up in this one town? And then just drove around and somehow found the lady's house? "Hi, sorry to bother you, I was wondering if you could help me...do you know of any psychics in the neighborhood that have nightmares about a city in ruins, then sends off packages to complete strangers that direct them to a web security forum? Likes cats? Really! Brown Tudor, third from the corner? Gee, thanks, mister"? Then yadda yadda nachos, yadda yadda she starts crying?

Mule fritters.

EDIT: ESPECIALLY from central NC (if the Crapel Hill in his location field refers to Chapel Hill NC). We drove from south of Raleigh to the mountains last week, and that was a three-hour trip; how far is it to Florida?

True, though if you're going to get weird psychic urges to drive halfway across the country to a town you've never seen, Cassadaga looks like the kind of place you'll be likely to end up.

I'm inclined to believe him, though I agree there is more to the story. I think this suggests a broader picture - specifically, that BA is as much a victim of this whole affair as Bryce (or Howard, or Stu, or... well, who knows?). Time to do some digging, I guess...

I replied to GetMEout's PM with the following:

I see - that can't have been an easy experience. If you remember any more of what you talked about (no matter how fragmented or nonsensical - we're used to the Craiglist posts remember Wink ) please let one of us know. We can't be sure what's important and what's not at this stage.

If you remember the address, or a phone number or an email address, that'd be helpful too - it sounds as though she's been suffering on her own for a long time. Maybe she'd like the Outpost.

And Cassadega sounds like a pretty strange town - I'll have to add it to my itinerary if I ever find myself on that side of the Atlantic Wink

Thanks,

Ill

It's 496 miles betwen Chapel Hill, NC and Cassadaga, FL.

So, probably around an 8 hour drive - depending on fast one drives Wink

To clarify, we knew BA was in Cassadega from the return addresses on the packages.

Well, apparently not, as she claims to not have sent them. But that sort of doesn't matter - it makes sense that GMO thought she was there. Who knows, maybe she is sleep-mailing.

But she doesn't sleep. So if she didn't send the packages, who did?

Thing is, the packages were postmarked in Cassadega. Course it doesn't mean that she sent them, or that Exu didn't - just means that whoever did either visited/lives in Cassadega, had an accomplice in Cassadega, or had an accomplice who visited/lives in Cassadega.

Yea I think I'm going to lurk for a while. I don't really like being berated by an in-game character, especially as part of a game that I'm finding incredibly frustrating anyway. Maybe things will get better in 10 9 days, maybe they won't.

Noooooo!!!
We need you. Who else is going to call the Sentries out when they need to be called out? Don't let GetMeOut get to you. He just made a girl cry, he has to lash out at someone else.
And don't worry if he goes all Bryce on us, it's not your fault. He had it coming. Shifty Eyes
and besides that, GMO actually gave you a Bravo. unless he meant the other definition of "bravo - n. - VILLAIN, DESPERADO; especially : a hired assassin"

Beyond the mailing address there was the phone number on www.bseeingu.com which (I thought) we had determined was likely Cassadega. In looking at that site after a month or so, (Cassadega isn't mentioned, specifically) one line kinda makes me giggle from her "About Me" page.
