I entered the number sequence in "the online encyclopedia of integer sequences" and got these results http://www.research.att.com/~njas/sequences/?q=1%2C2%2C4%2C6%2C7%2C8%2C&sort=0&fmt=0&language=english

But it is also true that you can see patterns in anything. Smile

[TRIVIA] number sequences

If you want to see a really neat sequence, drop the zeros from the timer and separate each digit to get seven individual numbers: 1,1,2,3,4,5,3

Where a(n) = (greatest base 7 digit of n - least base 7 digit of n),

a(64) = 1 (i.e. 64 in base 7 is 121, so we take 2-1 = 1)
a(65) = 1
a(66) = 2
a(67) = 3
a(68) = 4
a(69) = 5
a(70) = 3

Probably not relevant, but it's a pretty cool sequence of 7's.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone's pointed this out yet or not, but the decimal values 1+12+34+53 = 100. Anything adding up to 100 makes me think percentage, but as you said, patterns are in everything.

Countdown Stopped?

I feel like an idiot for trying to argue with the collective here, but I have yet to see my countdown timer stop. I've refreshed. I've cleared cache. But it's still running and is currently:

001 000 065 025

Hmmmm.

When I cleared my cache it didn't stop for me either, then it struck me to reload the page since it was up when I cleared the cache and then it stopped. So you may want to clear your cache and then reload just to check.

Also, you should join the forums! It's free and you can edit your posts if you make a typo like I do 80 times a day!

Countdown Timer Rolls On (for me, at least)

HHM:

I've cleared IE cache, cleared Flash shared objects (all *.swf), refreshed, reloaded, rebooted. My countdown timer rolls on unphased. Clearly, I'm a minority of 1 here - odd though nonetheless.

And, I finally registered, too! Cool

Just at tip to everyone, if you hold down Shift on the Keyboard while you refresh/reload a web page, it forces the browser to get a fresh copy from the web site, thus by passing the cache. While this "should" work every time there are rare instances where it does not refresh properly, and in those cases you should clear the cache.

Yays! Rock On

Ahhh, but have you tried re-installing Windows?

I bet that would fix it.

Countdown Timer

Thanks for the tip Grif, but my timer continues to countdown.

HHM, I think I'll just maybe wait to get home and check the timer on my PC running Win XP.

Currently:

001 000 024 006

I'm not sure putting windows on ANYTHING qualifies as "Fixing it"

ESPECIALLY if windows was already there XD

Off topic: And now... a transcript of the ending of Halo 3:

Cortana: Chief! All the Halos are about to go off! Do something!

Master Chief: There. Fixed it.

Cortana: What did you do?

Chief: I installed Windows Vista: Ultimate Edition into the control system! Now available in stores for $299.99!

THE END.

Could the reboot have been successful?

timer
its still running

(running os x and firefox 2.0)

I have the timer stopped in one tab and its still running in the other. currently its at 000 000 000 031 and running very slow. we'll see what happens at 0. (probably nothing, but i'll report.)

Addition:its running at about 21 sec/number so it should hit 0 at about 11:50 CST
