Hrm... ABS RIOT?

... orbitas...

GAR WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Laughing

Did you quote the wrong post there, or are you referring to something in the comments (which, incidentally, since I'm taking asemi-break from ARGs, I didn't check out)? Because I noticed an 'orbitas' anagram in another post that quoted an email (i aborts, dj). i aborts = orbitas

Sorry -- ABS RIOT is part of the comment that was left on Father's Day.

Totally missed that, Mokey! I was so blinded by the Ecapsym post I didn't even see the ORBITAS mention. Though I did do a search on the poster, fairandbalanced. Didn't come up with anything, but perhaps I didn't pursue it hard enough, thinking it wasn't the right one.

So, combine "ecapsym" (meaning My Space) with "fairandbalanced" and you get: http://www.myspace.com/fairandbalanced!

Check out the latest blog entry, posted June 17th:

Happy Fucking Father's Day

Well, here it is—the day we've all been waiting for. Am I happy? Nope.

A bit sor!

PS: the latest from you know who:
(image)
...from his blog spot 150 million kms away.

"A bit sor" of course is "orbitas".

"L" is his name, Lachlan.

"150 million kms", there's the favorite number, (au rounded).

The image is from the NASA site of a superstorm. Here's a link to the corresponding news story: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2003/23oct_superstorm.htm

Weirdest thing: the guy's got 16 friends but they're all versions of Rupert Murdoch. One of them has left him a comment, but it's dated August 31st, 2005.

When you look at his interests, he has Dr. J. Hendler under the "Heroes" category.

The only thing to go on for now is that this Lachlan guy knows Hendler. Didn't find anything with the Rupert Murdoch identities.

But I don't get it. Aren't these people famous? Lachlan quit the company back in July 2005. Never really explained why. He founded the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (http://www.mcri.edu.au/).

Sure, there's a heavy parents versus children theme involved here, but not really anything about one of them dying.

Something strange: after his resignation, Lachlan set up a new Australian company called Illyria Pty Ltd, in which he acts as sole director and secretary. But the website of that company (http://www.illyria.com.au/) is only a single page with contact information. Also nothing special in that page's source code, except there's an image involved which can't be viewed.

The name Illyria comes from a region near the Adriatic Sea, in the modern Dalmatia and Albania. In keeping with the theme, the Illyrian chieftain Cleitus sacrificed three boys and three girls just before his battle with Alexander the Great. Can't find much about this, since there are at least three different Cleitusses involved with Big Alex.

Well orbitas only means loss of parents/children, it never said dying perse. Estrangement, which is what seems to be going on here, is definitely a form of loss.

*EDIT*

Kind of going off on a different tangent, but I wiki'ed orbitas, and came up with Orbita, the first network of television satelites. Care to take a guess in who owns almost half of this network? Rupert Murdoch/News Corp.

*EDIT AGAIN*

Damnit, he sold off his share apparently about 2 years ago.

You're right, but I always associated it with death because of the filicide themes, animals killing their offspring, etc.

2 years ago? The same time Lachlan left? Connected or coincidence?

I honestly dont see much of a connection considering that according to google, the guys owns about half of the worlds satelite television networks. I was just trying to find somewhere else to go with this lol

Followed up some more on the Illyria hint, all I came up with is a Buffy character's fansite.

I think I get the name for Lachlans myspace (Fairandbalanced) Its the slogan for Fox News, even though they were blatantly lying, since we all know Fox is anything but. Fox News is owned by News Corp, which is of course owned by Rupert Murdoch.

I was thinking ... should we send DJ a message about finding that My Space profile of Lachlan Murdoch? After all, he drew our attention to those blog comments leading to it.

DJ ... Dr. J?

I thought it might be worth noting that Lachlan's heroes - Edgar Allen Poe, Dave Thomas, Faith Hill, Dr. J Hendler, Eleanor Roosevelt and Leo Tolstoy were all estranged from their parents in some way.

Lachlan's blog also has an enquiry from 'Johnny' with regards to solar flares, could anyone say if this is one of us or not so we can rule him out of the equation?

Yeah, that's me Rolling Eyes Just trying to generate some kind of response.

By the way ...

I found Hendler's blog!!!

I kept wondering about who Lachlan was referring to with that SOHO-image, someone posting a blog 150 million kms away? First this led me to www.hendler.blogspot.com, but there was nothing there. Then I tried www.150million.blogspot.com and hit the jackpot!

Good find about the heroes, though. Would never have guessed that.

From the blog, it shows that Hendler is having a falling out with his daughter. I guess this is were orbitas takes a peek.

Good find on the MySpace and the blog!!! Very Happy I searched MySpace for fairandbalanced, but I didn't think to put it as the actual address. *ditz*

Man, Dr. Hendler's blog makes me really sad for him. He sounds lonely. I wish his daughter would be nicer to him. Crying or Very sad

I've been looking at the Murdochs on Lachlan's friends list. One of them has Lachlan as his top friend, and his quote says something about being fair and balanced. There's another (the one who posted the comment) that has a blog post called "Why Lachlan?"

They're probably all just random users. Still, interesting!

Mokey, perhaps you could leave a comment about his daughter on his blog? I've been commenting here and there but only on the solar flare stuff. I've wanted to say something about his family situation, but couldn't find the right words. Don't want to be too intrusive.

*Waves* Hi Johnny, guess we'll all be joining you by the end of the day. Amazing find on the blog, a truly wonderful bit of educated guesswork.

One of the linkts to the solar flare images on the blog is named Occasus, seems significant as Dr Hendler makes a point of telling us he can name his links and enquires if we agree it's a nifty name. Occasus is the first studio release album by industrial death metal band The Amenta, they are based in Sydney Australia as is Lachlan Murdoch. Of course it could have simply been used as it also means sunset and I may be widly off course here. I shall consign this to memory for the moment.

I think it's also worth noting that Lachlan seems to imply on his myspace that he is in contact with Dr. Hendler, after noting that Father's Day has arrived he implies that the animated gif of solar flare he has there he received from Dr. Hendler.

I left a comment on the blog also, and like you tried to keep it vague for now. I shall send an email to DJ also thanking him for his messages, I don't think it's the last we've heard from him.
