who is Augustine Asimov? Art Against? Aulus Agerius?

not sure if this is applicable or not, but here goes:

shortly after joining, while browsing this topic, I received a pm from AugustineA (his profile shows that he joined today and hasn't made any posts so far) with the subject: "we are all subject". the body included nothing but this link: http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/4639/life1cs0.gif which leads to the attached image. I replied, explaining that I just joined and I'm not sure I'm the best person to pass this info to, and he replied "The tools of the trade are not in your hands but in the hands of your brethren." so that made me think perhaps this info would be best passed on to this topic.

so am I just passing along spam? is this even relevant?

Assuming the information is relevant and not spam, I looked at AugustineA's profile. There's a web address there - http://terriblegastriclesions.spaces.live.com/blog/.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the blog, the words "Will's imaginary friend?" are underlined as if they are a link, however the phrase is not a hyperlink. But, the letters 'im' from imaginary are, and link to msn.com.

I don't know if any of that is relevant and I can't take the trail any further than that right now, can anybody else do something with it?

I got the same email with the only difference being the .gif file included. There don't appear to be any graphic inclusions. If it's stegged, I probably won't be the one to find the clue as I refuse to play the "stegged image" game whenever possible.

he sent me another message: "Have you seen the light?" to which I replied: "most likely not, but I've passed it along to my "brethren" for assistance."

he replied by quoting my previous message, with the following modifications: "most likely not, but I've passed it along to my "brethren" for assistance."

an anagram of "thanks"?

I got the same e-mail with a different image. From "Augustine Asimov - augustine_asimovSPLAThotmail.com". Picture is http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/3849/life5yz0.gif

OK, bed time for me. I'll do some stegdetecting tomorrow if nobody else has. Here's some random spec to keep you busy though:

1. The image above ("Solutions" in an arc) reminds me of the Cheshire's Cat smile, running along the Alice in Wonderland thread.

2. Big spec: Coincidentally, I've been watching Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me this evening. Points of Crossover: Owl. Amber Circle (traffic light?). Palmer (as in Laura). At one point in the film "Mo's Motors" appears on a sign in the background. "10:10" as a time is mentioned at one point, and there may be a clock showing that time but I'll have to check.

3. The "IM" link to msn.com may be an instant messenger thing.

4. "Augustine Asimov", aside from the obvious sci-fi ref, initialises to "AA". If you click on the KEGG ID link on the genome.jp linked to on one of the pages before, you get to this page, on which there is an "AA" sequence. I'd noticed this before, and tried mapping the "42 1 18 76" number string to letters using it, which gave me "PMRX", but couldn't work out what to do with that, or if it was correct.

[edited from PARX - mind was still in mod 26 mode for the second letter...]

Anyone fancy setting a wiki up? Smile Certainly seems like there are more of these lifeN pictures to be found.

Finally, I got a reply to an e-mail from Eric re Nicks:

following someone.

S/He's currently available for IM, though I have no way to log, currently.
I'll let someone else hit him/her up.

It hasn't been noted, but the blog has white text, at the bottom of the Butter Chicken entry reading:
nomennescio.org
1. A Constant Speed of Light

Look at the site, compare to what we have. And, try and find a login.

Woah! My appetite this morning is insatiable. I've long since eaten my lunch - as a mid-morning snack. Choice has the best Butter Chicken, maybe I'll splurge.

check attached image. it seems we were on the right track all along. clicking on the image on nomennescio.org brings up a username/password prompt. I'll have to try to work that out in a bit.

you know, I just joined this forum a couple of hours ago, and I'm already into something pretty deep. crazy!

I was hoping you would have something for me.

I can reimburse your expenses when you turn in your expense claim form. No sooner.
Good-bye.

Well, erm, thank you. Goodbye

Have a nice day!

I'm Scorpio. He seems to want something. I have no idea what's going on now.

The blog has been updated again, although I can't immediately pick anything of import out of it.

a puppy's persective

Oh god! It happened again!

My dog got out off the backyard this morning while I was getting ready for my trip, but I hadn't realized. At some point I heard a dog barking in the distance and it sounded like him, but being as distracted as I was with packing, I didn't immediately put 2 and 2 together. So, it turns out that someone was walking by and saw him wandering in the street AND managed to get close enough to grab his collar. The funny part is that they hooked him to the dog run-thingy in my neighbour's yard. I bet he was baffled.

Anyway, all's well that ends well.

I think it's safe to say they're connected. Especially with the rabbit depicted as being stalked by the owl.

my windows live conversation with him, not that I made any more progress than mason:

Quote:
Reedus says:
"we are all subject" or "we are all subjects"? there is a difference, you know...
Augustine says:
Hello. Is there?
Reedus says:
howdy
Reedus says:
there is a difference, though I'm not sure it matters
Augustine says:
I'm not sure either. Hmmm.
Augustine says:
Anyway, to the business at hand...
Augustine says:
Do you have something for me?
Reedus says:
I think you know that I don't just yet
Reedus says:
but contacting you is part of the process of working it all out
Augustine says:
There is protocol to follow in every corporate structure. Hierarchy and all that.
Augustine says:
If everyone else needs to turn in their expense claim forms, so do you.
Reedus says:
yeah, yeah
Reedus says:
I'll get working on that
Augustine says:
Cheers!
Reedus says:
ciao!
