[SUMMARY/UPDATE]Countdown Stopped, AR & attacker have left Next step? A this point in Iris we had been waiting for the timer to end and an event to correspond with it. That event might still happen but it looks like we are at a point where we either have to wait (with no predetermined time limit) or use the information that we have to move something forward.
Let's take stock of what we have (I will edit any added info you have) and if nothing happens at 12 a.m. tonight we will be more sure of where we are.
1. AR is gone, a small portion of himself stored somewhere for later.
We have no way to contact even this small piece.
2. AR's attacker appears to have left this timeframe. We have no way of contacting this entity.
3. The Society of the Ancients web page has both Member and Mailing List options that as of this point do not work. We have no way of contacting them.
4. We know that 100,000 years ago in Africa, N'chala witnessed the building of the Ark. As of this time, we have no way of contacting him.
5. The Countdown page has been stopped for over 24 hours showing the following numbers- 001 012 034 053. (Can anyone explain why these numbers are considered the Base 7 numbers and where the Base 10: 001 009 025 038 numbers came from. One possible explaination is that these are coordinates that land very near a crater in North Africa.
6. There are 5 locked servers somewhere on bungie.net that are believed to be opened for this ARG. (Can anyone explain how these were found and why this is believed?) Is there a way to interact with them?
7. AR's attacker said that things would become clearer today.
Is there anything important that I missed? Specifically, a way to interact?

A very adequate summary.
As to your #5. When the countdown was active, it was counting down in Base 7. The other set of numbers you mentioned is what we got when we converted the countdown to Base 10.

Well, hmmm, let's assume, for a moment, that I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Even if, for that moment, I appear to be the biggest stupid-face ever.
What is Base 7 and why would you convert Base 7 numbers into Base 10 numbers?

Numbers can be represented in different bases. Base 10 is the most common and what you use to count in every day. Digits go from 0 to 9.
Some other popular bases are 16(hexadecimal) and 2(binary).

Can you give me your opinion on why, in a world where the majority of people viewing the countdown page are only versed in Base 10 with just the slightest notion of other Bases, you would place a timer that is based on Base 7 numbers?

It's Bungie. 7 is their favorite number. If you look back through the history of their games, seven has always played a huge part in them.

Hell, 7 halos, seven races of the covenant. Even the numeric designations of the monitors are powers of seven. and those are just off the top of my head.

Yes, well, all through ILB that was pointed at. I don't buy it though. Which of those numbers points to this spot in Africa? The Base 7 or Base 10?

That's actually been bothering me too. We are using the Base 7 numbers to reference a location that is generally described in Base 10. That's why I decided that the coordinates are just a coincidence.
That's why if you mosy on over to the [Spec] Other solutions thread I started, you see me suggest that we might not have solved this thing yet.

So, the countdown was in Base 7. The countdown stopped at a Base 7 # which is being used (in Base 7) in a map program that utilizes Base 10 #'s ?
If the countdown had been in Base 10 from the beginning, could it have stopped at a Base 10 # that could have been used in the same Base 10 map program to receive the same location?

In other words, to achieve the map results did Base 7 have to be used in the countdown?

Go to the countdown site, register through. We need 100 keys to unlock Server Five.

Hi folks, just registered.
I checked Ilovebees out of curiosity to see if anything had changed in preparation for Halo 3. I noticed the countdown timer was gone and remembered a link to this forum on the blog. I don't remember if I had an account here or what the name was but anyway here I am.
I figured I'd hang out to see what is developing and if there are any challenges like there were for the first Haunted Apiary, I am definitely willing to help out! If there are any links to posts with current happenings please let me know, and sorry for being disoriented, just got here.
I really hope this turns out to be another round of I Love Bees. The first one was great.
