The Server Keys Collecting everyone's Keys
Quote:

EDIT: Taking the KEYS off until we know that we need them. Some are speculating that we will need them in order to prove that we were of the first 100 that logged in to get those said keys. So, it might be good to keep them secret for now.
Supposedly, the 100 people to reach the unlocked server were given a 24 character string known as "The Key". I think the keys are going to be important later. We may want to colectively save them. I thought about making a public list here.

elided for security purposes.
-- Steve caught the caution to be careful with the keys too. He suggests folks save them locally for future reference.

Did it say to keep the keys themselves safe? I think that "Treat this knowledge with care" means more along the lines of pay attention to it .

I think the keys are going to be important later. We may want to colectively save them. So I will begin posting keys here in the top of this thread as they come in.
How are you supposed to get a key?

Until the Server was unlocked, whoever visited the old countdown page was given a key. Once it was unlocked, you can't get a key...until the next server unlocking i guess.
Who all made it in the top 100?
....besides me

So, is the consensus that we not make everyone's keys known until we really know what they're for?

I'm not sure. I know that the 100 that helped unlock the server are going to be "rewarded". So I'd like to keep my key secret to prove it was me.

"Treat this knowledge with care" could just mean to keep the key handy for the future.
However, since the keys seem to be individually generated (and there's mention of a reward due to those who were given keys) it may be best to keep them private until we know more.
-- Steve knows that this partially violates the "share solves" ethic in ARGs, but just doesn't know what the consequences are of sharing out something that's keyed to individual players.

Me too. Think I jumped the gun on this one, sorry. I'm taking down the list until we all decide that we need it.

I got a key but I didn't go to any page where I had to enter it to unlock the server. Did anyone actually have to manually enter their key to unlock the server?
