I've tried slowing it down, speeding it up, reversing it, using an equalizer to isolate the voices a bit and various combinations of all of those, and I can't find anything that seems like a hidden message

that's alright Marathon Man, but do tell, how many voices could you isolate?

Slowed down with no pitch change I slowed the tempo down, so the pitch remains the same. This will make the track sound more digital, but they won't speak like they voice chords are from a base guitar. I noticed it pretty much doesn't pick up anything to hear....
I will soon upload one of these played backwards.

You don't need a musical ear I used Audacity
Here's how it goes:
First note (the one that really gets your attention): An E, right above middle C. Has a bit of reverb/"wahwah" to it.
The note in the background after "this is how it all begins": Still an E, a bit distorted
After "..there was only one" - Sounds like E, but possibly F
After "the fate we escaped" - sounds like rapidly switching between E and F
The rest of the notes in the background are hard to isolate - but I can almost certainly tell you they're all between Middle D and Middle F/F#.
Not sure what we can get out of that though.

I'd like to be able to pick out the notes, but my musical talents don't extend far beyond the ability to read sheet music. I just don't have the ear for it.
Listening to that backward recording a couple of times, it definitely sounds like there's something there. I can pick out a few little things here and there that might be words from the deep voice, but like SplinterCellMGS said, it's too fast.

Is it saying "through others of us"? Or "through others' eyes"? The second one seems to more accurately fit "The Wells of History."
What it makes me think of is Norse Mythology, where Odin traded one of his own eyes to drink from Mimir's well, gaining omniscience and wisdom.

Yep... went through the whole thing over and over it is "though Others eyes" in my opinion as well... now if I could just remember my password for Unfiction from Bee Keeper days...

I believe y'all are just WANTING it to sound a certain way, but I don't know because I'm at work and can't listen.
At home I have a almost-professional grade audio editing software (Cakewalk Sonar 4) and I will try to dish it out if there's something to it. I'm pretty good with the program so I should be able to get something .

It would be interesting to split the audio channels apart so we can just hear the higher pitched and lower pitched voices seperately. Can someone do that with the audio editing software?

Splite the audio channels Yeah, I split the Left and Right channels earlier today. There wasn't anything special about it. Just slightly easier to understand. I'll do it again and upload.
