Rumbles

I don't know how much longer I can take this.

I woke up sometime yesterday not remembering much of the past few days. The empties on the counters tell me more than I care to know. My head is throbbing, my stomach is churning, and to be honest I can't blame it all on the booze. After talking to Harker, I've been following the news and the truth seems undeniable.

I keep going back to the jump—Becker's face, the bullet, the disorientation of going sideways. I thought maybe if I researched the time events around that day, I could find something, anything that could help me figure out how to fix my timeline. I want to go back, if I can. I need to go back. It's all too much for me to handle by myself. I need Kris, I need to talk to him about what happened in Russia. Maybe it's a coincidence. But I can't shake the feeling that I'm responsible somehow. Two major earthquakes - in the same area - both after unsuccessful time hops. If I caused what happened in Bam…

Is this what Kris feels when he thinks about what happened all those years ago? Does his gut clench in pain and panic? Are his thoughts consumed by the enormity of all those lives lost? I'm having panic attacks—I hyperventilate, and the room spins, and I collapse to the floor. I'm just glad Meg isn't here to see it happen. Christ, I wish I could just take her away somewhere, just forget about NRU, and my research, and Kris, and fucking Becker and his henchmen, and just go live on the river and fish. Be happy.

I can't. I need to know what happened. I've been doing some reading—trying to track down data. How do people do research without access to a college library? It's so damn frustrating. At NRU I had access to just about every library in the world—any book, any journal, was practically an email or a phone call away. The librarian in town looked at me like I was crazy. Physics journals? In this podunk? No sir, I'm sorry you'll have to go to Phoenix for that. But what they did have, what I've been reading…Kris would sneer at me. "Idiotic ravings of the ignorant," he would say—I can hear his rumbling voice mocking me.

Why Iran? It's been nagging at me. But I have a theory. There are these ley lines, cosmic vortexes of energy connected to sacred sites throughout the world. I have found one that goes through the Kerman Province, almost directly through Arg-E-Bam. Some Zoroastrian fire temple. What if the hops that don't use the time vector go through these other paths? I can't believe I'm even considering this. It's like I've become ungrounded—without the walls of science around me, I can only move within the shadows of superstition, and metaphysics.

There has to be a reason for it. If I can isolate the cause, we can plan for it, we can avoid making it happen again. When I get back—IF I get back.

Oh god. I can't swallow, I can barely breathe. It's my fault. It's all my fault.

More on ley lines here. Sounds like some pretty New Age-y stuff--not sure if it's really relevant, but interesting nonetheless.

INTERESTING!!!

You notice how both have headaches now and Jake can't remember much of the past two days. Maybe you guy are on to something with the Reggie=Caretaker=Jake stuff. It would explain why he can't remember the last two days and why he has headaches and the fact that they -- just so happen to go to the same doctor. AND it explains the doctors name Rodsild -- meaning= Red herring = which also means to chase something unimportant. This means chasing the doctor is irrelevant, but chasing the fact they went to the same one DOES mean something.

Here is another thought. If one suffers from multiple personalities in one reality, he may carry over to another. Meaning there may be more blogs out there from the same person.

THEY CALL ME PASTABAGEL

In a site related to ley lines, I found this:
Quote:
Specific electromagnetic frequencies and wavelengths stimulate the production of various hallucinatory-associated chemicals, a-g. pinoline. and can result in anomalous activity and perceptual changes through neuronal kindling in specific regions of the brain, such as the temporal lobes.

Perceptual effects noted in purported alien abduction cases are missing time, clicking or buzzing sounds, sexual stimulation or sulphurous odor. These phenomena are typical results arising from contact with intense electromagnetic fields, and are caused by neurochemical changes in the following regions of the brain:

Missing time: caused by electromagnetic stimulation of the reticular portion of the mid-brain at frequencies between 100 and 1500 hertz.

Buzzing noise or sulphurous odor: internally-produced in the limbic region of the brain.

Clicking: known as the Page Effect, it is due to changes in magnetic flux.

Sexual feelings: induced in the septal region of the brain by electromagnetic frequencies of 30 - 40 Hertz.

Hallucinations: In 1930, Professor Cazamalli discovered that electromagnetic frequencies of 500 Megahertz induced hallucinatory phenomena.

Electroanfsthesia: occurs when the brain is subjected to external frequencies between 100 - 1500 Hertz. Some victims maintain the same frozen postures during missing time periods, indicative that their brain neurotransmitters sustained an electrical overload, resulting in a temporary muscular immobilization known as akinesia.

Such an electromagnetic-induced mystical experience results in a cathartic modification of one's mental and physical processes, such as chemical hypersensitivity, heightened E.S.P. and adjustments in spiritual values.

Maybe they are using radio frequencies to mess with Reggie/Jake's mind.

Or maybe the PM is writing this puzzle based on our comments. In which case I'd like to state for the record that there aren't nearly enough pies in this game.

THEY CALL SOMEBODY PASTABAGEL
