Problems With User Created Puzzle Images
My pretty picture dissapeared!

Don't know if this happened to anyone else, but I created a puzzle on welovepuzzles.com and uploaded an image to go with it. The image uploaded fine on the creation screen, however, when I view the puzzle now, the image is gone! Needless to say, this makes it a bit difficult to solve the puzzle.

The original image was in PNG format. I also added a tiny bit of steg to attach my name to the image. I'm not sure if this caused the problem, but it is weird that the image would upload and display fine in one place, but not another.

Anyone else have this happen to them? I have several other puzzle to upload, but I don't want to risk having a bunch of broken puzzles associated with me. Would be nice if we could remove old puzzle at some point, but I digress. If nothing else, I may try going to a non-steged JPG or something. I would hope that works. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have a similar problem. When I try to upload a puzzle image to the site, the image appears corrupted in the preview panel. It's almost as though they abort the upload half way through the process.

The strangest thing is, the same thing happens when I try to re-upload my two previously submitted puzzle images (both which appeared on site correctly).

I'd like to know if anybody else has this problem.

EDIT: I just uploaded a test image and did a screencapture of it, to explain what I mean. On the left is the image I'm trying to upload, on the right is the image as it appears in the preview panel... (The only thing I've altered is the size.)

I was going through puzzles numbered 8000 and higher, and noticed that none of them have pictures. Heck, some don't even have an author attached to them. I guess the puzzle creation bit of the site started having issues in the recent past.

MD1500, are your correct looking puzzles numbered before 8000? I guess in either case I'll be sending an email to MC, although I'm sure they know about it.

Man, and I was so proud of these latest puzzle I made too! Sad

My two puzzles that display correctly are 8464 and 8490....
However, I think there's a definite problem. I've noticed there are no puzzle images present from 8502 onwards...

EDIT: I've just managed to upload a puzzle! I had to degrade the quality of the original image until it was 32k in size. There is still a problem with image uploading, but at least you can work around it. However, if your image is realy colourful, forget it! For those interested my new, working puzzle is at:

MC are committed to supporting the cards through waves 2 and 3 and support for the puzzles should also continue afaik, it is only the ARG that has finished/on sabbatical (I think Scarlett's probably got to learn to type again with her new fingers Twisted Evil )

But anyway, it's a customer service issue so definitely report it, I'd bear in mind that they have one or two fewer staff and probably lots of troubles so things might take longer. Though the WLP mods were supposed to have a hotline to Mind Candy, so maybe if you were sneaky you might be able to get a quicker response down that route... Wink Besides think of that lovely IP that you're giving them.

there lots of small things that have gone wrong with the we puzzles site that never real got fixed. this was ok because they working on the story and it would have all fix together in the end.

but now MC working on "New Thing" so all of PXC is going on to the back burner not just the story. so i don't see MC fixing the user made cards any time soon, as they have not put in any of the key things the cards like the S2 rankings or even a point total on your profile Sad .

sorry if i sound bitter over whole Cursing thing.

Whoops, I meant 8500 and above, not 8000.

I shot Mind Candy an email, and I noticed that MD1500 posted in their bug forum too (which I didn't realize existed), so hopefully we'll hear something.

I was able to upload two JPG images that were under 30k, but there does seem to be some limit around there. Some of my other images got corrupted near the beginning and some right at the end. Thanks for the tip, MD1500!
