[SPEC] N'chala and Array Recorder Data

Alright, so during the comic, N'chala would always watch the Forerunner building the ark from day to sunset. Then he would repeat the process the next day and so on. While writing down what he saw on the Machines. Now on the last slide it said

Quote:
Perhaps, some day, the gods will reveal themselves to him. Until he just watches and waits.

Now this could mean that the Forerunner rewarded him for watching them build the ark, since he'd have such a large knowledge of how it was made and how it looks, they'd teach him how to operate the ark, since it says in the array recorder data, (assuming that D-com is actually N'chala or a descendant of him)

Quote:
{D-com} It's done. By my hands. The pyrrhic solution is ignited. All I have left is the quiet of
space to lull me to sleep. I will dream of you.

Pay attention to "By My hands" this could just be a figure of speech but, if its not. Than N'chala (depending on how many years after the completion of the ark is) might have been the one to set the ark off. If it was years after his death, maybe he was told by the Forerunners to tell his children how to do it, and never forget, or the monitor there would tell his children how to do it.

Something that could still go both ways is right here.

Quote:
{c-match-burn} effectiveness of enemy core fleet negligible
{D-com} I feel no peril.
{D-com} No pain. No remorse. Is that normal?

But from what is said from above, this very well might be a human (of N'chala's decent). It could also be a forerunner. But when it says "millions of brave and honored souls lost their lives" in server 5, it could be saying that the Forerunner had been defending earth and the halo rings while everything was being set off.

How do you get from the D-com that it is N'chala speaking? I don't see it at all.

D-com most likely isn't the name of whoever is activating the ark since Monitors can't activate the halo rings, why would they be able to activate the ark(GS343)

Couple of things. There is no mention of the Ark in the comic. That's an assumption you're making. They are building "machines." The fact that it is pluralized seems to indicate that it is not the Ark they are building at all. Secondly, no mention of any communication or contact is referenced in any way. In fact, N'chala is depicted as only watching.

I love speculation, and I can appreciate where you were headed (at least it's a new idea). I would personally disagree, but only because I don't think N'chala is meant to be a significant part of the story, and I can't see a tribesman from a primitive time being so well spoken on this log.

If he's not supposed to be important, then why do we know his name? Just some food for thought.

Point taken. Smile

However, have you ever noticed in the credits of the Star Wars movies that you never see "Jedi #2" listed? Lucas gives them all names if nothing more. It's always nice to have a name, even for the most minor of characters.

I meant to put a final sentence on my post that I forgot, but I just want to say that I stated my opinion, but I've been wrong plenty of times! Smile

Not the Ark. Go have a look at the comic. Last panel on the second last page. We've seen that before. That is the massive thing in the trailer... Hell. I wonder if by pure co-incidence he's standing where John does a hundred thousand years later.

Granted we don't actually know if that thing is the ark, but it's popular opinion.

I referred to D-Com as "the D-Com" because I interpret D-Com as "D-communicator" or "D-Comlink". Just to clarify, I don't think D-Com is a name for anything more than us saying, "Channel 4".

In fact, that's a perfect analogy to my interpretation- Channel D.

BTW I am asd, sry about that.

This is absolutely true, but Lucas has an entire universe full of minor characters with rich backstories and a gaggle of fans who love them. It makes sense for Lucas to include them as minor characters in the movies so fans of the universe can see their favorite characters interacting with the bigger players in the universe.

Halo, on the other hand, doesn't have such a rich background. I'm not commenting on the quality here, merely the fact that Star wars has about a 30 year head start on Halo in this area.

That said, how many minor characters have names in the Halo games and books? I don't know about the books, but I don't remember anyone but the major players.

That's true. I really hope that Bungie gives us all the opportunity to see the "Halo Bible" they have after the series has run its course. They have a TON of canon that they've had since 1999 that we've been spoon fed for the last 8 years. Smile

But yes, I totally see your point. I just like to play Devil's advocate to kill time at work. lol
