Outgoing e- mail to Meg Jan. 17, 2004

Since there was a big jump in the response for "limited" info being given to Meg, I haven't spilled all the beans yet, but I hopefully opened the door to reconcile Meg and Jake.

This is what I sent:
Quote:
Hi Meg,

I can understand you being angry at Jake for being drunk. However
he's had a big shock recently. He may have mentioned some of it
to you, it was why he went to see that Dr. Rodsild when you insisted.
Meg, I realize you don't know me very well, and that you are upset, and Jake is upset...

But Jake isn't crazy. I'm not at liberty to discuss everything with
you at the moment, but I know what happened to Jake, and it was
more than a simple car accident that put him in a coma. I think
it was the same group that hit my car, and for the same reasons.
We know too much about a certain secret project, one that will, and has, change(d) the world.

I realize your father needs you right now, in fact it is probably
safer for you to stay there for the time being, safer for you, the
baby, and Jake. Take care of your father, take your prenatal vitamins,
get lots of rest. Jake is just very scared at the moment so he is
doing stupid things, like getting drunk. I know this doesn't excuse
his behavior, and I am certain he regretted it the following day when he started to sober up.

As difficult as it may be to accept what Jake was telling you, what
he said happened, well, my group has documentation of it, documentation
that if you are interested in, we can share with you, but only if
you are willing to accept that maybe there is a kernel of truth
to it. Quantum theories, String theories all allow for the possibility
of the type of travel he mentioned to you.

I am not asking you to accept anything on blind faith, Meg, I'm
just asking for a fair hearing, if you can set aside pre-judgements
and look at the information, and talk with Jake.

aka Steffeny

I like this. I know I threw my hat into the 'tell her nothing' ring over in the poll, but this strikes a nice balance between showing respect for her reluctance and asking her to accept what has happened.

My worry is that she'll still be weirded out; it's a whole lot to swallow, and from what we know of Meg (via her blog and e-mails), she has her mind pretty well made up on what is going on. Caretaker was an easy one, because he was ex-CIA and was (presumably) a little more open-minded when it came to freaky government programs. With Meg, there's only so much we can ask, and I worry that this will be too much. Who knows, we'll see.

My email to Meg

For the record, here is an email I sent Meg, I tried to write the sort of platitudes she enjoys.

Quote:
Dear Meg,
I read your latest blog entry with dismay. You are a strong and capable woman, it is not like you to give into fear and panic. No one can handle what you are doing alone. If your father and husband can not give you the support you need, find people who can. Many people care about you. You can do this.

I know you are upset about Jake's drinking. I happen to know the person who was with Jake that night and, although he may be a slightly bad influence, I would trust him with my life. He was watching out for Jake and took care of him. He told me that Jake was distraught about being separated from you. I really think this was a one time mistake that Jake made, he is not becoming a problem drinker.

Please remember to stay strong and kindle hope. Fear is your enemy, not Jake.

Your friend,

Rose

PS. I sent this early (5:00am, my new wake up time) in the morning of the 16th, edited to add the quotes which I forgot and then for this PS

Caretaker email

In the interests of partially full disclosure, and for entertainment value, this is an email I sent my man CT about Meg and Jake. Hmm, I might have to edit the next one, but at least this way you guys know I'm not hiding anything!

Quote:
Hey, thanks for the email, my dear. Hope I didn't sound too much like a sulky child, I know your "sekrit projekt" is all-consuming.

Please be sure to let everyone know when you can visit from the cold or the fog or the ether, wherever you are now. I might be otherwise engaged in, how did you phrase it, oh, yes, "chasing down leads." I will try to be there.

By the way, if you talk to that rat bastard Jake, please tell him to call his wife. Make him if you can, she is getting hysterical (and who can blame her.)

And remember, as the song says, "when the world ends, collect your things, you're coming with me."

You may get your wild ride yet.
Rose
