Email reply from Meg Jan. 18, 2004

Well she was very polite but a bit sarcastic with her reply to my limited disclosure letter.

Quote:
Dear Steffeny,

Well, you've certainly managed to pique my interest. Secret groups
causing car accidents, secret fears making Jake go on a drinking rip,
secret projects that will change the world (or did that already happen,
I'm not clear on this point), secret reasons that Jake, the baby, and I
may be in danger, secret groups with secret documentation about other
secret quantum things.

This is better than Passions. Please do tell. I've been pretty bored
lately and there's only so many soap operas I can bear to watch. Real
life conspiracies are always more interesting, don't you think?

Sincerely,
Meg

Here is my reply. My letter is in the same thread as Mage's above.

Quote:
Dear Rose,

You are so sweet to write this. I admit I am a little comforted by the
fact that at least one person knows where Jake was and who he was with
when he went on his toot. If you'd told me he was out with a woman, I
just don't know what I would do. Regardless, the behavior - going out,
drinking himself silly for days - that is so unlike him. His
personality
changes were severe before I left. Now they are totally out of
control.
At what point does a person have to give up hope?

I'm sorry if I'm sounding whiny. I just wish with all my heart that I
could understand what's going on! What's the saying? The devil you
know
is better than the devil you don't know.

Sincerely,
Meg

Outgoing e-mail Jan. 18, to Meg

Yeah, yeah, I know, limited... but I doubt the yahoo info will sway her.
Quote:
Dear Meg,

Thank you for being so polite with me, I know you are under a lot
of stress and probably wanted to rip my head off. The last time
I watched a soap opera was in my college days in the late 1980's.
I was hooked on "As the World Turns."

I'm probably not the best person to be breaking this news to you,
I am terribly blunt, and have no tact whatsoever. You can think
of me as a nut case who is just responding to you, simple because I discovered your e-mail.

You can check out what information I, and others, have been able
to gather here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/acheronthinktank/

I'm also attaching a photo of a badge I have from the facility that
is in the process of being built at the edge of town. I received
that on November 9, 2003. It is real, and I have it in a safe place.

When John Baxter arrives in Catalina, he may already be there, you
should ask to see his badge for the facility and compare it. He
will be working at the facility, putting in the computer security.
And when he asks you how you know, you can give him my cell phone
number, (xxx)xxx-xxxx, and ask him to call "steffmage."

Thanks.
Sincerely,
Steffeny

I also sent the jpg of my visitor badge. Never thougtht it would come in useful in this manner...

cool magesteff. hopefully when reggie turns up she'll be curious enough to compare the badges, even if it's as a joke about some crazy woman who thought her husband had travelled through time.

and her disbelief doesn't sound outraged or hysterical which i think is hopeful.

Hi Meg,

Once again sorry for not responding sooner. To be honest there's something that I've been feeling I should share with you but haven't known how, or whether I should.

Weird things happen all the time right? I like to think of myself as pretty open-minded and accept that the world may not be what I think it is. That's all fine in theory, but what do you do when people you know start asking you to swallow some really really tall tales?

Sorry, I'm being all roundabout again when I should just spit it out.

I'll try to be as quick as possible because I know you've already been contacted by Rose and Magesteff (Small world I know!). Basically my story goes like this.

Some people I know told me about a friend of theirs, Jake Starkey, a while ago now. He lived in Catalina with his wife Meg and they both went to University. That University was involved in some pretty cutting-edge research and Jake was deeply involved in it. There was some speculation at the time that the research may have something to do with wormholes and the potential for time travel. Whatever the truth of the research there was definite danger involved and everything was top top secret. I don't think Jake was allowed to let anybody in on what was going on, not even his nearest and dearest. At the time when my friends told me all this Jake had gone missing and they were trying to help find him and get him out of whatever trouble he was in. Jake did return and we were able to help, to a degree. A couple of weeks ago though something really inexplicable happened. People that we knew didn't know us anymore. The University where the research was taking place disappeared. It was as though entire events has been erased, or somehow reset, or replaced. I honestly experienced this all first-hand and although I can't 100% explain it .. I know whatever is responsible is beyond the normal realms of my experience and I can't rule out time-travel.

Anyway Meg, I don't want to freak you out but you have to acknowledge that one person you know telling you some tall tales is weird, but more than one telling you the same crazy story is more than weird and deserves your attention.

Even if none of this is true, you should talk to Jake. Give him a chance to explain what's going on with him from his point of view. I think he's feeling displaced and powerless right about now.

I'll understand if you don't want to hear from me again, but you have my email address and can write anytime you feel like it (and I promise to be a faster responder now that I've got this off my chest)

Take care
Aiesha

How nice I've never participated in a chat (Well, only once) so if Meg takes it in the bad way we might still have someone who can speak with her Smile
Anyway I hope she will understand it and believe us.

Onyx

I agree, please keep emailing Meg. She needs someone to turn to if she decides that we are all crazy.
