[SPEC] Iris named after asteroid?
7 Iris

I couldn't find this already listed, so here it goes. I found on Wiki that the 7th asteroid ever discovered (and fourth brightest) is named 7 Iris. Bungie's favorite number and the name of their ARG. Hmmm...

That perhaps there's some significance to this astroid. Maybe there is a specific date when the astroid comes closer to earth. I think I remember somewhere AR talking about stopping Iris.

Here's the astronomical symbol for 7 Iris

Also, here's some info about closeness to Earth:
Quote:

2006 12 November:
Minor planet 7 Iris passes close to Earth at .848 astronomical units away

http://www.mallorcaweb.net/masm/Iris1.htm

That website has a program at the bottom that lets you track the path of the asteroid. I'm going to fiddle around with it.

EDIT: 7 Iris lines up perfectly with the Earth and the Sun here:

EDIT 2: As I mention here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19732&start=75 . Saturn also lines up if you zoom out. All 3 planets (Saturn, Venus, Earth) and the Sun line up with Iris on August 25, 2007, one month before Halo 3's release.

Stopping Cycle

He also said something about history repeating itself and a cycle. Maybe theres a forerunner structure on it!

The alignment definitely seems like something to keep in mind. What comes from planets aligning?

I couldn't find anything after a quick search, but it might be worth looking into some interpretations of the occurrence.
