[SPEC] Q: Does slipspace protect you from the Halo pulses? I have posted this on b.net as well, and args.bungie.org, but I'm fishing for good solid answers.
I haven't seen anything regarding the idea that biomass aboard ships in slipspace at the time of exposure to the pulse from the Halo constructs would survive. It seems that since slipspace is outside of normal space/time that biomass aboard these ships would not be destroyed by the pulse.
Further, the Dyson Sphere is supposed to be in slipspace (reference) and this is presumed to be a shield/"safe zone" from the halo pulse.
If this has been discussed somewhere, please point it out to me.

Please read the reference material, it's quite short, before you post.

it's supposed to yes, but the noted variations may result in no protection. . .
but common problems seem to come from entering and leaving slipspace, which i think the dyson sphere stays in slipspace if i'm correct

To answer that question, we don't need more information about Slipspace--we need more information about what exactly the Halo Array "pulse" is. Do we have any information on that?

Yes. All things in "our" dimension cannot interfere with things in the dimension we know as "slipspace" (there are exceptions when the Forerunner artifact was found in The Fall of Reach
Ghost of Onyx proves this to us with the discovery of the Mini Dyson Sphere along with the "Pockets" of Slipspace that the Sentinels enfold the soldiers in.

The hole there is that any ship in Slipspace at the time of the firing of the Array would have had a protected crew, infected or otherwise. Which makes the Array useless, since the Forerunner had such control over Slipspace as to be able to enter it permanently (or at least for thousands of years).

Unless the Halo array includes whatever technology is in the artifact mentioned by ThereIsNoSpoone up there.

It's also possible that the array's effect is long enough (timewise) to outlast a slipspace jump.

Possible, but there is no known limit to how long a slipspace jump can be in the Halo universe, from what i've read, anyway.

Therefore, slipspace would only offer protection from the array as long as the entity remained within slipspace for the entire duration of the array's effect, from beginning to end. The problem is that nobody understands such details of the array, such as how long the effect lasts. Additionally, how long might it take for the entire flood infection to "starve to death," allowing for a safe return from slipspace? Obviously, these "shield worlds" were designed to overcome such problems, allowing entities to remain in slipspace for sufficient time. Also, what is to stop an infectious Flood from entering slipspace and infecting others?

I believe being in slipspace would protect you from anything. Remember in Ghost of Onyx that Team Saber, if I'm not mistaken, was there on Onyx but yet they were invulnerable to anything.

But think about it, you wouldn't want to destroy your entire race would you? You'd have to find a way to survive (at least a small sect).
Why else would they create a Mini Dyson Sphere the size of two astronomical units? It's kinda pieced together that the Forerunner PLANNED on surviving. They just wanted to be gone long enough for the infection to die.
Hence the Ark.

Exactly. It wouldn't do much good to build the array in the first place if you didn't have a way to survive. Is Onyx 2 AU? (I haven't read the book yet).
