Found Something
E-bay

Found Something! - a reference to max prescott and ebay. Now I need someone to tell me what it means. Need help with this.

Did a search on dogpile and found this result:

3. www.maxprescott.com (NOTE: THE LINK GOES TO E-BAY)
Looking for http www maxprescott com? Find exactly what you want today.
Sponsored by: www.ebay.com [Found on Enhance Interactive]

Here is the link (look at the 3rd entry!):

http://tinyurl.com/yq39y2

Press on the maxprescott.com link - it goes to ebay.

I couldn't do the link correct here on my post - the html didn't work. The actual link on the dogpile site goes to ebay, not maxprescott. Try the tiny url and you will see the actual ad.

I am thinking like the other person, that someone dropped the ball on Max Prescott? When you press on the maxprescott.com link, it takes you to ebay and automatically fills in the search place with your "keyword". I am thinking maybe this is the key we were looking for. But then there is nothing listed under that keyword. It says sponsored by e-bay. Do you think that is the end? I have a feeling this was supposed to lead to an item listed with the info for the baggage department - a description of the items were necessary.

Dunno if that will work, but if it does kudos to them!

That was me.

Also, I sent a note to that baggage claim place, asking about a package that could have been left behind for someone. Also, I asked what exactly we would need to retrieve said item. This was their response:

Sales

Hi,
Thanks for your reply - In order for us to release an item from Storage
we will need the copy of the receipt that would have been given to
Max Prescott - if this person is unable to collect the package himself he
will need to do a letter / email of authority authorising us to release to
yourself - we will also need to have some form of evidence as to who
you are eg passport / driving license etc.. We will also need to have a
full description of the item, colour, size etc & an inventory of the contents.

It took several rounds of emails to get that information, as I'm sure what I was explaining was pretty confusing - not knowing exactly what I was looking for, who it was left by, etc.

I should also be getting an instant notification through eBay if anything is listed with the tag "ihavefoundthekey," and I'll post here, of course, if and when it pops up. Woo!

I think you are on the right track. The clue I found said "Find exactly what you want", and I don't know if you noticed but when you fill out the box on "I want it now", it says "Be as detailed as possible; specify brand, condition, color, size, price range, etc" (almost exactly what you got back in that e-mail). It is too close to be coincidence. I made another post under "I want it now" for max prescott since that was on the clue as well. Will let you know if I get any response.

Doing a search on dogpile for any web address results in an ad for ebay.
Just replace maxprescott with random typing and you'll get the same ad.

Darn, I thought I had something. Your right - I tried putting my own website in and it did the same thing. I never noticed that before. I am at a stand still then - I tried everything I could think of last night and came up with nothing.

Has anyone found anything?
Max Prescott

Wondering if anyone has any news on Max Prescott. I haven't heard anything lately and tried my best; but then again I'm new at this and don't know much on where to go from here. I am sure there are some pretty savy players that can figure out what to do next. Any ideas? Question

This looks dead to me, unless someone can figure out something we missed. I rechecked E-bay for all the suspicious sellers and keywords, and there's nothing new there. Vjails blog not updated since May 8th.

I don't think it's new, but the leftmost picture at Vjails' myspace pics page is pretty odd - a dark archway and a swordsman of sort. I ran StegDetect on this and it shows a 2-star chance of steg'ed content using JPHIDE. Trying StegBreak on it now with a large dictionary, but I doubt it will work.

EDIT: It seems to take over an hour (checking 37+ million passphrases!), and it locked up my system last time before finishing, forcing a reboot. It uses a lot of CPU, so I'm putting off trying again until overnight.

Yes, try it on the photo - I never noticed the photo before. I wouldn't know how to check a photo. I did lighten it up on photoshop and when lightened doesn't look like a sword or hand anymore, but have no idea what it looks like.

Did you get any results? How about the camoflage software? I think all those photos are new because I don't remember seeing them before.

Odd
Some odd messages

It looks like this board is dead now. One last post for me - I am new at this and in one last investigation attempt, I found some odd messages and maybe a new game is intertwined - or independent. What do you think?

On Vjail's myspace page is a few new friends. One of them is named "under the bed". I went to the site and under his comments, there is only 1. It is from a Mr. Alan Johnson. The comment is: June 13 - haud Sammeeeee est tutus quo Eidolon. I thought I would take a look at his page to see what it was all about. This is a strange page as Mr. Alan Johnson seems to have passed away by the comments on it, and the 2 blog entries are very odd with 2 photos on them. The first friend listed on Mr. Johnson's site is "Francis". I clicked on that and yes, a very, very, odd video – someone in the dark talking and giving weird clues. Maybe for an entirely different game I don't know.

So that is it for me.

edited - Yes, I found out that it was indeed another game - that was on the unfiction board under a different game. I guess I just came across it by accident.

Palm you've stumbled upon the SammeeeeesII game. There's a great story so far thread here, that'll get you caught up in no time. Come join the fun!

I'm back, sorry, I don't have a result on that StegBreak attempt yet. I forgot to start it that night, and I've been preoccupied with other matters for the last couple of days. I just started the test now and should have an answer tomorrow. I wasn't expecting it to find anything, so didn't think it was urgent.

Camouflage only works if you think you have a likely password, I believe.

If we think those photos are new, it's possible there *is* something in them...

UPDATE: StegBreak didn't find anything valid for that first vjails photo.

I think Mr. Max finally met the people who were trying to get into his house. Sorry Max!

On a meta note the audio clip was so well done. Its a shame this game fell through. I had high hopes for a nifty little game.

Looks like we're not done yet. Vjails just updated his blog. Mostly just repeats what we already know, and gives us a push:

Quote:
he seems to hide his riddles in existing websites. which site would the 'wrong places' be?
