[OT] Is this it? All the hype for ARG's, but... I read about ARG's in the latest issue of GameInformer, and I was more than excited to get started on this one. I read about ilovebees and the one for A.I. and about people going to phone booths and it just sounded so cool.
But so far, Iris seems almost like a waste of time. Sure, I have learned more about Halo than I knew before, but this is not as... exciting as I had hoped for.
I am looking forward to Alice is Lost, becuase Perplex City was such a hit. Maybe that will fullfil my ARG dreams, ha ha.
Please tell me I can expect more from this. I want to stick with this until it's over, but at the same time I am not all that excited to.

Well, I Love Bees was about this slow when it started off too -- it took a while before the phones started ringing at all. There's still 3 full months until Halo 3 comes out, which is plenty of time to do very interesting things with this ARG.
I would wait a few more weeks before writing this ARG off.

Your first mistake is having expectations.
There's another huge topic all about how everyone here is, thus far, disappointed by what Iris has offered, but that's because I think the vast majority of us were excited, expecting, or otherwise anticipating some kind of ILB spinoff, continuation, or similarity. We should never have come with those preconceptions, but at the same time it can't really be helped.
You just have to accept that this may be a far less enthralling piece of adware.

As I said in the other thread. Iris is only two weeks old. Give it time. Perplex City took ages to take off from memory, related to the fact the puppet masters had under-estimated the preparations needed for a large scale ARG. ILB was blog hopping for a couple of months and drove most of us mad before the real fun started. This may not be as epic as ILB, but the key here is patience.

Unfortunately, trying to tell somebody about ARGs is like trying to tell them about the matrix.
(The matrix itself that is, it's not hard to tell them about the movie The Matrix.)

I have always found it easiest when someone asks what an ARG is to reference the movie "The Game" with Michael Douglas. At least way back when Majestic was out from EA I found it the best analogy.

*thinks about her past ARG experiences*
Okay let me amend that "Only with less being drugged and left in Mexico?"

HitsHerMark put it exactly. You can't know what an ARG is until you have experienced it.

Precisely. ARGs this big don't start off huge, they need build up. A little at a time, to get you used to what the game has to offer, and then, once you've experienced, little by little, what it has to offer, they throw the good stuff at you.

This is what i was hoping I'd read. I'll be patient with it, and I can't wait for things to get going!
Though... is it normal for a game to be dead for five days?
