Emailing John

Ok, so I may be a little late jumping on the act of emailing John, but figured I should include this here. After my initial mail, asking about the term Osprey:
Quote:
Dear Q,

No bother. That does't sound familiar. Why do yu ask?

John

Two things here seem strange to me. One, he suddenly has no recollection of the term despite having gotten so angry about all the inquiries only days ago. Secondly, he used to sign his full name and job title, did he not? In all the emails he has sent me he simply signed his first name. I've received a few more since then but none adding anything out of the ordinary since then.

EDIT:
Quote:
I'm sorry, Tim. The closure of Tradecraft Journal is a matter of public record, but I'm afraid that the details of the project are not. I'm sure you understand. Since the project was sponsored by the OIS you'd have to request those details of them - along with the usual internal protocols (if you are with another agency) or via a standard FoI request (if not).

Good luck,

John

The tone here is obviously standoffish, like he wants to end the conversation. It is also the first time he has referred to me by name, rather that the initial that I sign with.

I don't suppose it would go as deep as to actually require an FoI request for a (presumably) fictional company, so I don't know how to proceed.

My email is maketheworldquietSPLATgmaildotcom if any groups are being set up about this.

JPike Message

I asked JPike about the address from image 2, 4 and 5.

"Hey man. Yeah, that's federal building. OIS leases almost all the space, and a couple other agencies have the rest. It's completely full, which is a little odd, but that's about it. Not sure what that has to do with much, though. That's all I had on it in the stuff I have access to. Jeff."

Also I live in South Florida and would be willing to drive to Miami to check on the KMQ location. I can not do it until this weekend. Lets solve this before then and save me some gas money. I think that the answer will be in plain sight.[/i]

OK, as I ended the conversation he suddenly seemed keen to continue, magically remembering something about jpike

Of course I understand. That's just the nature of the service.
I'll look right into it. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you do recieve or remember any information.

OK, Tim. Will do. Hey, I did remember something that might help you I think someone mentioned something on YouTube. What was the name of the guy who posted that file? Maybe that would ring a bell.

Regards,
John

While you crazy cats do the hard work with the awning, I think I'll see how much new I can get from John in the meanwhile.

Thank you, Tim.

Tell your friend seifer13 that I just got the other part of what I needed.

Regards,
John

Ooook, so he DOES know what I'm about. Any clue what this refers to? Seifer, any idea?

Answer to Quiet's Question

Seifer13 posts on this site. We should be careful what we are telling John as he is clearly attached to OIS. We should probably throw him a red herring or two.

Other part

What I really need now is to find out what Seifer had been saying to him that I gave the other part of. He seemed clueless at first, but quickly turned sinister. He's definitely involved... all the secrecy acts and military and closed projects indicate a coverup I would say. That V22 thing seems viable.

I think once we get organised we can work from various angles a lot more effectively. I thought I was being real smooth 'til he figured me (well, IG.. obviously I wouldnt actually be investigating this).
I'm still trying to play it off but I've got no reply.

An Idea About KMQ

I think what we are looking for is going to be in plain sight like the purloined letter. This is going to be one of those things that we will get and think OMG I should have realized that it was right there all along. I think it may be part of the youtube voice message. Good luck!!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa! How many blogs do we need? Blackcobra, I said I would post whatever summary you had on the blog. And, you were complaining earlier about people "stealing your ideas" and "not reading previous posts." Did you just entirely gloss over mine? I don't mind if you want to have your own blog, but I thought we were all working together on this.

Mr Green

It has everything to do with Mr Green being a reader of the site. I got an email this morning from him asking for help with the journalist, and he was trying to figure out who the youtube guy was. Being he already knew about the journalist I told him that the journalists name was Allen. I figured it would be as good as time as any to test a therory that Mr green was a user of this site. After he replied back that everyone was wasting there time blah blah blah insert company line here. I replied back for Mr Green to never contact me again. Of course this upset him and he replied with I guess this makes my job easier and refered to me by my screen name on this website.

I long held the opinion that an individual was shaddy in nature just by his posts and he confirmed it today. I am not going to call him out but if you read the first half of the forum pages 1- 10 you should be able to figure it out. I have to run but thats what I have been up too today.

The Purloined Letter
A possible explanation

Alright, so, I remember hearing the phrase "The Purloined Letter" in reference to my namesake, Sherlock Holmes. A quick google search (purloined letter holmes) turns up this as one of the results:

Quote:
Written by Edgar Allan Poe, a writer who excelled in both poetry and the short story form, "The Purloined Letter" is one of a number of stories based around Poe's fictional detective Dupin (who was first introduced in "The Murders in the Rue Morgue"). Years before other detective writers came into their zenith (and an enormous inspiration to Arthur Conan Doyle and his famous creation, Sherlock Holmes), Poe's Dupin stories had already laid down the groundwork where other detective stories were going to tread for a century to come.
Poe concentrates on the notions of observation and deduction. He also includes a fascinating explication of how great detective minds are able to identify themselves with the criminals they seek to defeat. "The Purloined Letter" pits Dupin against a Machiavellian courtier who is blackmailing an important personage over a letter she wrote to her lover. The story is a sparkling and witty effort from a master of the genre.

Unlike many detective stories (and unlike Poe's early story featuring Dupin, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue"), "The Purloined Letter" is much more interested in the methods of the detective--rather than the anatomy of crime. "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" had focused on Dupin in his process of investigating clues and finally coming to know the identity and the motive of the killer. In "The Purloined Letter," however, the criminal is known to his victim, Dupin and the police.

The crime is quite clear, and it has happened under the very gaze of the person the crime was perpetrated against. A compromising letter has been stolen from an influential lady. The lady was reading the letter when she was surprised by her husband and the Minister D—. The lady placed the letter on the table--in the hopes that its contents would remain a secret. Her husband thought nothing of the letter, but the clever Dupin noted the writing, and surmised what the contents must be. So, he placed a letter on the table and picked up the wrong letter when he was exiting the room.
The police had been informed and searched D—'s apartment in the most minute detail, but were unable to find the letter. A month later the head of the police returns and tells Dupin that, despite offering a large reward, the letter has still not been found. Dupin claims the reward, walks to his dresser, and takes out the letter for which the police have been searching. The head of the police is so excited that he does not wait for an explanation, but Dupin explains it to the nameless narrator. The reason he could find the letter whilst the police didn't, he says, is because he could identify with the mind of the minister who took it.

The Minister was clever enough to realize that the best place to hide an object was in full view, and so the Minister had turned the letter inside out, and re-inscribed an address in a different handwriting on the outside. He then pinned it to a letter board. Dupin had invented a reason to go and visit the Minister; he saw the letter where he thought it would be, so he created a diversion to steal it. He left a similar letter in its place--with a short poem that told the minister who had outfoxed him.

And...

Quote:
The structure of the story – person arriving in need of assistance, the relating of the facts, the detective doing the seemingly impossible with great ease, closing with an explanation of his unique methods – set the standard for the Sherlock Holmes mysteries that would follow many years later. In fact, the plot of "The Purloined Letter" can be seen in two of the better Holmes stories, "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton" and "The Adventure of the Second Stain."

Soo...If this helps, great. If someone already posted this, kindly do not trout me, seeing as I ran quite a few searches.

Now then: My conclusions.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Thankfully for us, all of the clues we could possibly need should be sitting in plain sight. That said, there will be, <OOG>As with all ARGs,</OOG> copious amounts of obfuscation, and difficulty, but, at least for now, it shall be hidden in somewhat plain sight.

-Holmes

P.S. Yes, this means I'm in.
