 		Overwatch/Project Osprey Summary
A Summary of All Known Information
Alright. Here's how this is going to work. If you did not notice on my post in the regular Overwatch thread, please notice just why and how I am going to complete this summary.

I am going to USE THE EVIDENCE that has been given to us by the game. This includes the original phone messages, the original documents, and any letters that have been sent to game players, including myself.

SPECULATION will be kept to a minimum. IF I NEED TO SPECULATE, it will be labeled as such.

I will only be using EVIDENCE, not people's posts. So don't have a cow if your idea is not included.

That is the basis of this thread. Hopefully this will aid anyone coming into this game, as getting it all organized was tough for me when i came in, and I'm sure it's not too easy for all the newcomers that came after me. So this one is for you and all the players who have no idea just what is going on. Hope it helps.

I STRONGLY ADVISE actually doing the story as I present it so that you can understand what news posts are about. You learn by doing. That's how I learned what was going on in the story, by going back and DOING it.

 		Overwatch/Project Osprey Summary
Here's the beginning. Starting with the announcement on ARGN and YouTube.
Alright, first, let me kinda introduce myself. This Overwatch game is the first I've played, therefore making me a bit of a noob. BUT, I think I have a fairly decent grasp of what has been going on. I've read every post, researched every document, and spent hours on our current puzzle. So, I believe I have the authority and knowledge to pump out a summary.

It all started when I went to ARGN to find out if i could find an ARG that was just starting. I noticed that Overwatch had just started, and took a peek at the original phone message that was left on some guys machine. For future reference, this caller will be named Mr. Phone Message Man, or Mr. PM. I listened to the message which is found here:

Please listen to that if you have not already, for it is critical in our knowledge of the story. If you're too lazy to listen, here is the transcript:

"BEEP. No names. That's not important. I do systems for the Office of Internal Security and I've found out about a project we're running that I think is about to step way over the line. It's heavily compartmented, but I've been able to get to some of the files. The project is called Osprey and it looks like they're running it here in the States. I'm still trying to piece it together, but I think it's a sting operation of some kind. And I think they are using it to field test some of our new tech. I'm stashing the files as I get them. I'm using an old site from a project that they shut down a while ago. It's outside our firewalls, so you should be able to get to it. That project was called tradecraftjournal. All one word. The files are down in the site, you have to go to...oh, dammit. I think they're here. BEEP"

The person who recieved the message is a man living in DC. His name is Jeff. His youtube username is jpike2107, and I have been messaging him back and forth. This is the first letter he sent me:

"Yo Andrew, what's up! Dude, we can go out for a brew or whatever, but it is going to be a short conversation if you want to talk about all this phone message business. Man,I just wanted to post something on youtube and this goofy message was handy. If I had known it was going get so crazy, well, hey I would have posted it anyway 'cause I dig crazy - but you know what I mean. Anyway, I don't know anything about this stuff. People keep writing and telling me they are gamers or reporters or people who want to help this poor bastard Alan, but for all I know this cat Alan is sittin on a beach somewhere sippin mojitos. And I have no idea who left the message in the first place. If I did I'd call him myself and ask him what the hell is up. Anyway, I'm headin' out to MCCXXIII in a while, stop by if you like and look me up I'll be over by the booth."

So, we can see from the EVIDENCE that these messages were not meant for Jeff, but for the person who lived in the apartment before him. This man's name is Alan, and I will explore him more later. That is a short intro to Jeff. I have one more message from him that has to do with another creepy phone message which I will give to you all later.

So.... continuing on with the ACTUAL MESSAGE:

In his message, Mr. PM said that he hid files regarding Project Osprey in a derelict website:

Now, the site no longer exists for reasons that I shall explain later. But in the source code of the page a player found another attached site. This site held all the information that Mr. PM could find and hide. Though the TCJ site and information is now gone, the documents and information can still be looked at and heard at this site:

Now, these files contain a lot of information. BUT it is not information that we can draw conclusions from yet. It introduces names and some events, but is nothing that we can REALLY REALLY understand yet. We don't know enough to draw hard conclusions. I will now outline each document and audio file and give you some names and details that I noticed that you all may have missed, or is not posted on the main thread.

I am actually going to go take a short break and get something to drink. When I get back, I will make a new post regarding the documents.

John Green and TCJ
Sorry to go off track here from the info, but JOHN GREEN really does need to be explained. He is one of the more discussed people on the boards, and people even now are getting info from him. So, JOHN GREEN, everyone.

JOHN GREEN is the registrar of the TCJ, meaning that it is his. To find his name and contact info, TheGrapeApe had to go into the internet and use WHO.IS, a web service to find who sites belong to. Thanks to Ape for that info. So, considering we hadn't talked to JOHN GREEN yet, james39562 took it upon himself to email JOHN. JOHN wrote this message back:

"Dear James,

I'm afraid you have me at a loss.

Since you capitalized Osprey, I assume that is meant to be a proper name and is not referring to the bird of prey. Unfortunately, that's the only osprey I know of. Regarding someone named Julian Thalberg, I'm afraid I am equally in the dark. I know no one by that name.

I notice that this e-mail got to me as a forward from a project I was involved with quite some time ago, namely Tradecraft Journal. Just curious, but how did you come by that address? It was my understanding that Tradecraft Journal was shut down completely at the time that I left the project.

I see that you are affiliated with the law firm of (name withheld); is your firm perhaps doing work for the OIS? If so, I wonder if you might let me know who your vendor contact is.

Good luck in your search for Ms. Thalberg, I wish I could be of more help.

Thanks to james on this. As is noted, JOHN has no knowledge of OSPREY or Julian Thalberg, who is introduced in the info I shall go over next post. This is really all you need to know about JOHN right now, but he shows up later too. I'll put all his information in my character list too. I hope this is making sense. Please read all this, look at the information, and reviewthe boards to keep understanding all this stuff. I'm attempting to go in a order, but it's hard when so many things happened so fast. Thanks for stickin with me.

So, now i shall go over the information that we got from TCJ. I will look at each piece and detail the details, show you some the speculation that I think is plausible, and give you some character ties and info. Please, look at these pieces of info yourself and make sure that I have everything right. Message me with any concerns, etc. Without further ado, present the info, taken from Blip.tv.

NOTE: all important info and names are IN CAPS.


PIECE #1:

FILE NAME: collateral 1:image 1

This is a short memo from SOMEONE to WILLIAM. The memo says to GO AHEAD with PROJECT OSPREY.

SPECULATION: This note is from CLAUDIA, a person I shall introduce soon. I agree with this speculation.

WESTIN: This is a REAL chain. I called to make sure.




PIECE #2:

FILE NAME: collateral 2:image 2

This is a RESTRICTED message from the DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS to SOMEONE. This is a memo of CONFIRMATION OF PROJECT OSPREY. This is a cover page which outlines what else is in the pack. The findings presented by SECTION A of the packet are APPROVED FOR IMPLEMENTATION by DDOPS_SE under PREVIOUS NAME OF OSPREY.

FUNDING has been APPROVED through DOPS through the UNDER SECRETARY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.

The final slate of FOUR CANDIDATES (for the pjoject) is to be submitted. The candidate pool is limited to active duty members in OIS, DOD, OR DHS. Those would be the Office of Internal Security, the Dept. of Defence, and Department of Homeland Security.

WE KNOW: OSPREY has been passed. IT IS GOING FORWARD. Also see info #1.

SPECULATION: The name OSPREY is now not being used. I do not agree. That was the previous name, and they elected on keeping it is how I see it.

Ok,
Whoever you are appereantly you are a totaly NEWBIE to ARGS and from the looks of things you know nothing about posting in ARGS fourms..

First off, this ARG is set to start in the fall of this year. so there no need to post much about just about everyone here has seen everything that there is to see and hear.

Secondly when you post a speculation you need to put that in your subject. [Spec] and so on.

3rd and last you have posted more then 3 times in a fourm which a big no no.. If you have info do NOT post it here.. Create a wiki..

 		Hoo boy. OK first of all, blackcobra685, I appreciate your enthusiasm, I really do. I'm glad you are taking on this role. However, what you are doing here is what we usually call a trail or a guide, and they are most often posted on other sources, like a web page or wiki and not as a series of forum posts.

Second, ramilies, your post was really uncalled for and a bit rude. We don't operate that way here on Unfiction. Compare what you wrote with "hey, I think it's great that you're writing all this info down and it would be really helpful for players, but I think it would work better on a wiki." See? A world of difference.

I am locking this thread. blackcobra685, I really would love for you to continue this guide but in either wiki form or as a separate web page. It could be a really nice resource for players. If you don't have access to these resources please contact an admin and we'll try to help you.
