[TRAILHEAD?] Frank Sturgis
received a request for help via msn messenger

Quote:
[14:44] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: are you familiar with the company Allied Resource Management Consolidation Incorporated?
[14:44] Shayne: no I am not.
[14:45] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: neither was I.
[14:46] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: three years ago I was a student out of business school looking for work, I have a debilitating degenerative disease that prevented me from being able to work in offices extensively
[14:46] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: I searcehd for firms I could work out of from a home office and came upon ARMCInc by some blind luck in a newspaper article
[14:47] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: The work I did was pretty standard- supervising numbers, watching out investment stocks
[14:47] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: but there was a lack of any substance
[14:48] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: Moreover, the company was 'relocating' for my entire time spent there
[14:48] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: I don't think they ever had an office, and I was confused, so I did a bit of fooling around in their servers
[14:49] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: Unfortunately, I got caught as soon as I crossed beyond my restriction, and let me tell you, for a investment firm, they sure had their hand in a lot of dirty business.
[14:50] Shayne: hmmm that is odd
[14:50] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: their current website is almost impossible to find its such a joke, and they never answer their phones, its like they aren't a real company
[14:50] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: but now they are chasing after me
[14:51] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: ARMCInc.biz.ly
[14:51] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: thats their website, my email is franksturgis5SPLATgmail.com
[14:51] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: I'll be in touch.
[14:51] Shayne: i'll see what i can find
[14:52] remsyata1SPLAThotmail.com: I'd appreciate it, but someone needs to hurry

Was half afk at the time and didn't really think about it until I got back to the keyboard awhile later. I checked the [url]armcinc.biz.ly[/url] site out and nothing looked out of place at that time.

Later on as promised I received an email that read:

Quote:
Are you willing to help me

I replied that I was but I was unsure where to start. From this I received this response:

Quote:
I have to keep running- I don't know who to turn to or who can help me. Everything in the company checks out, but I don't want you to risk yourself in any event. I just checked their site and part of what I found surfaced just this evening. I don't know who did it, but the site was opened up somehow. It all has something to do with Frank Sturgis. I can't talk much more though, I need to keep moving. Let me know if you contact the site and spread the word!

After this I returned to [url=armcinc.biz.ly]ARMCInc.biz.ly[/url] and noticed that the link that was before labeled "Catalog" had changed to "Error 46 93". The contents within that page had now changed. Before it was just some pictures of trees, a waterway in Italy and some other scenic things. Now it contains pictures of the mentioned Frank Sturgis.

I have saved the old pictures that had been replaced (thank God for saved history in web browsers). Not sure if they have any meaning but I saved them anyways.

As mentioned in my post questioning if this is an ARG I have pulled up some info about Frank Sturgis. Info is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Sturgis

As far as the company I haven't found anything on the 'net concerning it but have reeled off an email stating I was interested in employment opportunities they have available but would like more information on exactly what it is all about.

Oooh... I love these Smile It does sound ARG-ish

Here's some basic ARG detective work:
The website is hosted on a Juno IP (Juno is a budget ISP)

Also, something interesting. The .biz.ly is a _subdomain_, not an actual TLD. "BIZ Free Web Hosting: in case you don't have a domain name yet, but want to get a professionally looking free website address, you can choose our BIZ-ness plan that includes a free domain name www.yourdomain.biz.ly (a subdomain of .biz.ly) " Sounds like the PM is doing it on the cheap Very Happy It also doesn't allow us to use WHOIS information, as it bounces back to the biz.ly whois.

.ly is Libya's TLD

The site is also built using the free website builder offered by biz.ly

I don't see anything hidden in the HTML

Now this is where it gets really ARG-y: http://armcinc.biz.ly/catalog.html

Talking of conspiracies, death of Frank Sturgis.

All 4 jpegs come up negative for steg.

yeah although I'm new to this it seemed way to weird to let it pass. I had tried to look into the domain but as you pointed out the way it is registered doesn't allow it.

I missed a google chat request about an hour and a half ago with the guy that contacted me but sent a return email. Waiting to hear back now. I just asked for more details on what types of things were done while employed there IE: types of documents/forms (apparently a work from home position), contacts and things of that nature.

I like how one of the pictures of Frank is titled with Date of Death: December 4, 1993?. Makes it seem like maybe he is not dead? Hope this turns out to be a good one. I'm thinking about calling ARMCInc because I don't want to wait for an email response haha. Although it says By contacting us, you are entering a new world filled with a completely different mindset of core business ideals. Most likely the first clue to follow I'd think? Kind of freaky though, I'll have to build up some courage to actually call Very Happy

Also I'd have to point out that I never use the account where I was contacted until I signed up here so it's definitely something puzzley or ARGish.

I found http://www.armcinc.com/, which is a nearly blank page that says "Got New Host" on it. So it seems like registered that first but moved later. I'm not good with whois, it's timing out, can somebody check that one?

Some obvious stuff: The "Relations" image is on Frank Sturgis' wikipedia page. The "Conspiracy" image is a facial closeup of the 4th "Relations frame. The guy holding the rifle in the "Murder" image is cropped into the 3rd "Relations frame.

The Conspiracy and Administration images are of Frank Sturgis also and appear here (found easily via Google image search):
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/RANCHO/POLITICS/JFK/nixon.html. "Administration" is supposedly him as a tramp at Dealey Plaza at the JFK shooting. "Conspiracy" is him later during Watergate.

I don't know how the "Murder" image fits in, or who the other guy in it is. EDIT: Found the image at http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/revolutionary-firing-squads.htm, it's Frank in Cuba in 1959. Second guy probably not relevant, some local.

Can you post those for us somewhere? It's unlikely they're important since you could hardly have been expected to recover & save them, but you never know.

Also, the hotmail account name, "remsyata1" is really odd. "remsyata" seems like an anagram, but the most I could make of it was "East Army"

Could the error #, 46 93 be significant? Frank died in '93, but was born in '24.

the old images are as follows:

I also received a response on my questioning on what was actually done while our guy was employed:

Quote:
Let me tell you a bit about ARMCInc. and my time spent there. I am sure they will give you the runaround, but it should be harmless, although if you have a good resume they might have some interest in your talents. What I assume to be a front is their actual business, which is some sort of investment corporation. Curiously, they are not publicly traded and I have never met their clients, but they seem well funded.

Like I said, I worked from my desk most of the time so I didn't deal directly with much of anyone. My interview was conducted on the phone, as were all of my clientele interactions. I met the CEO once- a man named Thomas Lodginson. I did a bit of research on him and never came up with much but he is in his seventies and incredibly wealthy. I handled tons of shady materials, but it would be risky for me to ever login to my old network and try to get some of my old work.

If I had to guess, Sturgis is what my current problem is related too- I know a lot about him ever since I discovered the secret. Let me know if ARMCInc. responds, and I will keep you posted on what's happening.

Still haven't gotten any response from ARMCInc but I expect one during the morning hours (I sent my email outside of excepted business hours). I will reply when I receive more to go on. If I don't receive anything I'll give a phone call (since I'm new this is kind of stuff it's a bit freaky to me Very Happy ).

Really hope this turns out to be something interesting! Would be nice to hit it head on rather than coming in a few weeks late!.

*ETA* Also I posted these images 1-11, although image 2 was missing....They were located at http://armcinc.biz.ly/images/

Ran a steg on all of them but everything came up negative. BTW what does it mean when stegdetect reports a false positive...is it fairly reliable on those instances? I also played around with darkening/lightening those pics in Photoshop but found nothing.

*funny how entering into this world makes you look at every message/email/website differently Very Happy

Got a reply.

Quote:
Hello, and thank you for contacting Allied Resource Management Consolidation Incorporated. We apologize for the lack of details and current problems on our website, it has been under maintenance for the past year and the login information was recently hacked and tampered with. We are still resolving this issue.

The current job posting is for an off site maintenance position for our clientele mainframes. You would be tasked with updating our databases and monitoring out assets. Our company itself is a private investing firm with a small client base- our CEO Thomas Lodginson prefers to conduct business on a personal basis, and as such we are a small business.

If your interest remains, please contact us for further information, or email your resume to our head job consultant, Jerry Baxter. His email is jbaxter.armcSPLATgmail.com.

Thank you for your interest, we look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

what other questions should i ask? should i make up a fake resume?
ARMCInc

I inquired about the database maintenance position last night, and got a very similar reply back quickly:

Code:

From: "Thomas Lodginson" <armcinc>

Mr. Perkopoulos:

Not a complete autoreply, they used my "name", so it's being hand-crafted. Hmm, a fake resume, that would take some actual effort... Wink
