The one time I recall somebody thinking that it did work, the email client had done something odd but mundane with the bounce back message.

Hmmm, I tried emailing DoYouGrokSPLATSocietyOfTheAncients.com last night on a whim and to see the bounce-back for myself. I used hotmail but I haven't had a bounce-back yet.

I'm sure you should always get the bounce-back with hotmail; either in your spam or inbox. I've never seen any settings that might change this and have left everything on default in any case.

Can someone confirm or crush this for me please?

Oraclle.

This might be just grasping at straws at this point, and probably already tried, but has anyone just looked at this as a simple question? Maybe picture it like an initiation into a group where they ask questions and everyone kind of answers in unison. Could it just be something as easy as "Do You Grok?" being the question and the answer email address being "Yes@Societyoftheancients.com" or some other kind of affirmative response?

I tried:

sendgroktomeSPLATsocietyoftheancients.com / sendgrok-yop~tomeSPLATsocietyoftheancients.com /
send-grok~yoptomeSPLATsocietyoftheancients.com

all to no response.
There are a bunch of different anagrams, but once you remove "send" "grok" "to" and "me" you're left with P O Y - ~ which doesn't seem to have any decent usage.

I also thought about send-togrokme... as "grokking" is a two-way thing in which both things must grok each other... if we're stating that we grok them, they must also grok...

but I'm in work so I'll have to give it a go later.

Since email doesn't work, how about web pages. Add these to the address, like www.societyoftheancients.com/~grok

It's IIS so the case doesn't matter.

If anyont get it let us know Smile

Wow...good idea. Every time I vow to myself I'm going to stop trying carzy ideas, someone has a good one. Damn. I'll report if I find anything.

Edit: Well, I tried a bunch of different things... lots of ~yes, ~igrok, ~wegrok, wegrok, igrok, lunarcycle, join... nothing was promising..although, I DID get something when I typed www.societfyoftheancients.com/sota_images

comes up as being unable to list the directory, which makes sense...but it was good just to get anything.

the ~ tilde username homepage format was an old unix style, typically not used on windows servers, and these days not really at all... you can try it though, but I don't think it'll turn anything up.
