[Spec] Ethiopia, Antikythere image filename

Yesterday on the Sota site, the one picture in the evidence page, I think it was the same as the one on the home page, had a strange file name, so I put it in notepad, took out letters and underscores, and added in decimals, and checked it in gogle earth: and it was a place in ethiopia. Coordinates are 10.9652 36.9924643. I checked it today and they changed it, and it translated to
34.6429963 25.16901, A place just south of crete. Seemed i was on to something yesterday, but I don't know now that it's in the ocean...

edit: adjusted the thread name -thebruce

the Antikythera Mechanism filename is currently 346429963_2fc516901e.jpg, and it was last modified June 14th.

Can you quote what the actual original filename was that you found, and the filename after it changed?

It's suspicious... though it seems it could be an auto-generated filename. It's just strange they'd auto-generate a filename for an image.

Looks like Hex (base16) numbers to me.

What use they are is anyone's guess.

i was dumb and forgot to save the image yesterday, copied the filename, messed around and saved the new filename. I'm curious if it regenerates each day and maybe we should map the points or something? I don't know...

Someone already posted this on another page but:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/84366354@N00/346429963

346429963_2fc516901e.jpg is the file name of that picture on Flickr.

It's not a lead I'm afraid.

ah I knew the format looked familiar...

that's the standard auto-generated naming convention for images uploaded to flickr. View theproperties of any image, they follow the same format.

If the filename changed on sota.com, perhaps the webmaster just found another image on flickr that was more appropriate, and copied it again? *shrug*

so yup, the filename is irrelevent

By the way, the evidence page states that the symbol can be found in Tanzania, not Ethiopia.

IIRC evidence of the earliest human settlements have been found there.
