Hmm, I got a different interpretation. Spiders, monkeys, and birds are all drawings in the Nazca plains of Peru. They are huge in scale and can only been seen properly from far above, like in an airplane. I saw the entire entry relating to that. There is speculation that the eye of the god could be a solar eclipse - the eclipse itself being a pupil, and the corona as the iris.

So does this discovery of the pony page mean that the login is "nebra" and we need the password only?

The disck has elements of Hebrew, Maya, and ancient European cultures. All three placed high importance on equinoxes, eclipses, and the Pleiades. The Nebra disk has the Pleiades on it (Plejaden in German, where the disk was found); the Maya built their cities to align with the constellation they called Tzab; there is a word in Hebrew meaning Pleiades (kimah). Equinoxes signaled time for various rites. Astronomical calculations were probably developed in order to predict eclipses and equinoxes.

So there are several combinations and possibilities out there! Start punching keys, monkeys - eventually we will re-write Shakespeare. Twisted Evil

The feathered serpent is Quetzalcoatl (Aztec) or Kukulcan (Mayan). He was kinda the head honcho god, like Zeus or Odin. El jefe.

The first part seems to represent nebra disk(the login), so it would be logical if the second paragraph represents the password.

Assuming that the pony.php page is supposed to be a hint for the password, we somehow have to connect Reggie's blog with it? been trying all sorts of passwords.

The second Sun was Quetzalcoatl, and the food available was mesquite tree seed. This Sun ended with hurricane winds blowing people into the sky and forests. The survivors became monkeys. The third Sun was Tlaloc, and the food available was a prototype of maize. The Sun ended when volcanic eruptions destroyed everything. The surviving people were changed to birds. The fourth Sun was Chalchiuhtlicue, the goddess of water and the food was a seed, acicintli. The ending of this Sun was the inundating of the earth and the toppling of the sky. The people were turned to fish to cope with the floods.
...
The present Sun is expected to end with horrible earthquakes that will swallow everything and bring down the stars. (Brundage, pages 27-29) In order to keep the present Sun happy, the Aztecs believed that it needed to be fed with sacrificial victims...

About 3/4 of the way down, are pictures of skulls from one of the line builders of Nazca.
Quote:
On the pampa, south of the Nazca Lines, archaeologists have now uncovered the lost city of the line-builders, Cahuachi. It was built nearly two thousand years ago and was mysteriously abandoned 500 years later. New discoveries at Cahuachi are at last beginning to give us insight into the Nazca people and to unravel the mystery of the Nasca Lines.
(picture of two skulls, one of which might be the one in the pony background picture "mrhappy.jpg")
Cahuachi is emerging as a treasure trove of the Nazcan culture. As Orefici and his team excavate, discoveries of paintings on preserved pottery, and the ancient technique of weaving that the Nazca people developed, have given an insight into how the lines may have been made, and what they might have been used for, more than 1500 years ago.

Note: Nebra/Cahuachi gets a kickout site

I wonder if there's something in the background of the skull - mrhappy.jpg. I've twiddled the contrast, see what you think.

probably nothing, but this page:
http://www.fnal.gov/pub/inquiring/
has the same title (Inquiring Minds) as the pony.php... interesting stuff about physics anyway.

Didn't we have a pale horse earlier in the game? with the shadow files it was jbaxter/blekhest that grumpy solved instantaneously.

Also, the pale horse is the third horseman of the Apocalypse and represents death.

The only link I can think of with the Maya/ Aztecs is that the conquistadors brought horses with them to the "New World" and horses were unknown to either of these native cultures. And Cortes was considered at first by Montezuma to be Quetzcoatl, who was supposed to return from the East.

I don't understand about the greek phrase-is it from the bible or not? Or maybe both? Like Steph I can't read it properly (not that I read greek anyway)

minor point, death on a pale horse is actually the fourth. From Revelation:
Quote:
7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Stegdetect shows jphide stegging in mrnotsohappy.jpg, scanning with a sensitivity of 1. Tried the obvious (nebra) passphrase with no luck, going to try a few more...

<edit>Magesteff - I have a copy of jphswin if you still need it. Not sure of the etiquette here, am I OK to post the zip file here? If not I can mail it.

<edit 2>Should be with you now.

You can e-mail it to me at my gaming address, magesteff(at)homail(dot)com. Thanks Flynn.

Since Steg detect is picking it up, does anyone else have an idea? Perhaps nazca, quetzelcoatl, eclipse, sun, etc... or maybe Skull? as in the other jpg file on the page, the mrhappy.jpg one?

earlier in the game the automaton referred to the "turk" chess automaton which was pictured on John's previous puzzle in this timeline - the dream drawing with the names of the Enochian angels.

could this be referencing the newest chess computer? "deep junior" which
played Kasparov about a year ago? the other most recent chess computers are:

deep blue
deeper blue
deep fritz (for some reason, my personal favorite)

One more thing, I know we haven't forgotten that we have two places to try log-ins, the backdoor and nru.us , any thoughts we may have multiple
ID/password combos here? Reggie and Jake are both at nru working now, so each of them should have an id/password for nru.us

ran stegbreak on the file using all.lst as the wordfile and got no results:

mrnotsohappy.jpg : negative
Processed 1 files, found 0 embeddings.
Time: 14069 seconds: Cracks: 158836962, 11289.9 c/s

So either the stegging is a false positive, or it is using something not found in the all.lst file or it's combinations that it tries.

stuff which probably isn't in a dictionary:

blekhest
rodsild
nebra
plejaden
pleiades
kukulcan

think along those lines, try destegging with jphide/seek. The PMs probably made it a word that is highly unlikely to be in any dictionary after the Tunguska picture was bruted rather than puzzled through.

I would but I have no access to a PC right now =)
