[spec] EMAIL AND THE 100 key keepers! grok about it? okay all this talk about the errors when you email the doyougrokSPLAT societyoftheANCIENTS.com....well what about the people that got the keys. I mean they did enter in their email addresses and they were told that they would be contacted. Why dont they try and email that address. I think someone was talking about how the smtp error 550 meant that your email address wasnt able to email that server? What if those 100 people had to email that address to get another server unlocked?
it was just a thought.
maybe there is some truth about this.
and have any of the 100 key keepers been contacted yet?

No contact yet, and it said we would be contacted, so I'm waiting.

I don't think they asked for email addresses when people were first logging onto server 05. I got a key and I certainly don't remember giving out my email address.

E-mail addresses were used through your Windows ID that you had to log in with.

Indeed. If you didn't need to log in via Windows ID, your key probably fell in the gap between when keys were issued and at least 100 of them were entered. It seems to have happened to quite a few people--in fact, I was actually assigned two different keys, one when I first successully entered, then upon returning to the page it assigned me a second but I never had to use it as the server unlocked at that moment.

Along briguy2004s line of thought, what if the e-mail server would only accept a message from one of the original 100 keymasters?
Phyltre , did you try to email doyougrokSPLATsocietyoftheANCIENTS.com from the same address that's tied to your Live ID account? Unfortunately I jumped in late, so I wasn't around for the keys.

[SPEC] The Email... I had a thought (which has probably already occurred to some).
'DoYouGrok' is a question, yes? Which to my mind, means that you would need to have the answer.
And if you think further, the question is this:
Do you grok the Society of the Ancients?
In other words, do you understand them?
Maybe there is an email address usable which is the answer to this....
Any thoughts?

There's more on this in another thread:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19835
However, the bounce message that we get appears to indicate that, although there is a mail server at societyoftheancients.com , it isn't set up to receive any emails at all. We don't know if this is a puzzle, a mistake, or something that will change over time if we just wait it out.
