Hello all, i've been lurking for some time following the events. I downloaded the file, and slowed it down 400%, trying to extract a voice or anything from it. All I got was a low pitched grunble that made my neighbor call me telling me to stop.

I tried reversing, slowing it down more, etc etc. No luck.

ah true, I stand corrected. The text files have changed format - but only in the sense that the ascii code for a newline has been changed. Open a text file to save in wordpad, you'll see different text formats available. Some re-saved the text file in a different format, one that Notepad doesn't understand fully (thus not actually display new lines).

My file compare program just compared text, not whitespace (newlines/tabs/etc) so it showed both files exactly the same Razz.

So ya, they're different

Not quite. If you have headphones on, you'd notice there are three different sounds, all in stereo. There's the hum of that big glowing thing in the middle, the exhaust from what I assume is an exhaust port (In the back of the server, directly above the glyphs,) and the ticking noise. As you spin the server, the three noises move from one headphone to the other, as well. From what I can tell, the ticking is slightly to the left of the exhaust, but I can't quite get a lock on it.

You are right, Illidan.
Does it sound like dripping water to any one else?
I was playing around in Halo 2 the other day on Desolation, and I noticed that there was dripping water on that map. Now I would really consider that coindience except that the wall that the Glyph was on in the "keepers of the flame" e-mail was also found to look exactly like the wall in Desolation. Perhaps they are pointing us there again?

That really begs the question as to why the ticking/dripping noise moves along with the server.

Maybe the server (Apparently held up in some sort of anti-gravity field) is staying in place, and it's the hallway we're moving around? I dunno, just a thought XD

Exactly.

It's probably nothing, but it does beg the question of what they were doing that caused the change.

Its not just the background sound thats changed, the sound when you select one of the circles has changed as well.

Can someone post the unmodified changed sound files?

They over at CI found beeps in the background along with the click. Don't know what it means, and they haven't posted a link.

Most probably nothing, but another change is that the machine no longer makes a full rotation to position itself when you click the button that has the video, it just centers from whatever angle it currently has.

Yeah, I saw your post a little bit ago and tried that. It still sounds like it's coming a bit from the left, though, but that may just be my imagination and/or headphones. Because as soon as I move it an extra notch to the left, it starts coming from the right again.

My first thought was actually the "dripping flood guts" noise from the games. You know, the green stuff?

If it's dripping water, it seems to be sped up. Might try slowing it down and seeing if that makes it clearer.

Personally, it makes me think of the noises you get on mousing over buttons on some more "Sci-Fi" websites. But that doesn't help much.

ok we've got a bunch of new posters in here... please read the whole thread before commenting so you know what's been discussed already and you're up to date.

That said, I did a little more playing around, and I'm attaching a version of the sound file extracted from the server 5 flash source, but with the original sound removed - so all that's left that you hear is what has changed from yesterday to today with the background 'chirp' sound. The original sound file MP3 is exactly 5.381 seconds long, which is why the timing between chirps is just over 5 seconds.

did we miss this...?
need good eyes

can anyone get a good zoomed in view of the individual blocks in the part of the structure that looks like an exhaust port?
maybe I'm seeing things...
but i think they each have symbols, just for anyone willing to place the time, my computer is crappy as is, so anything beyond a web video is a herculean challenge, ( also my sonic screwdriver is on the fritz ) because the sound is emanating from the "rear" of the object, maybe it has something to do with the exhaust port that we might have missed...

Brownie brownie to anyone who takes the time...

Maybe we have to "line up" the noises from the sound clip to match the sounds from the map? Maybe that will lead us to something we can interact with on the map?

Maybe I'm reaching because I want something to be there, but to be honest, I kind of feel like they released the last two maps to tie in with this ARG. Sure they made $4.00s a pop, and the Hang 'em High remake was "for the fans" that really wanted that map, but why remake Derelict? Plenty of people would rather have the Prison remade before Derelict. You can't say they didn't remake the Prison because there is no fall damage, because the same reasoning would have been true for Hang 'em High.

Actually that is exactly what the dripping water on Desolation looks like. If anyone wants to check it out, it is near one of the ramp hallways leading up to the second level.

Edit: To respond to Illidan and talk about the maps.
