Perhaps this will help?

It's used for Kanji and such, but number combinations make letters.

-------------------

I feel like I'm barking up the wrong tree. I worked out numbers for each one and each sequence as if you were viewing them diagonally, but the letters didn't come out well. Anagram Solvers wouldn't give me crap. Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

angular approach

When I look at this, all I can see is a timer.

With the 45 and 135 degree angles, you can't tell if it's four or five.

How about angles? Due to the way the blue/brown are configured, it suddenly struck me this has something to do with angles. You see all blue on right, all brown on left, but not vice versa. Voila. Angles. All blue must be 360, all brown 0. At first I had those reversed, but all brown means the brown has not moved, equaling 0.

But, just in case I'm wrong, I'll post both options. The bottom option is the one I believe is correct (in blue).

Now my first guess would have been that this opens up to some sort of duodecimal cryptarithmetic. However, numbers like 270 and 135 throw that theory out the window.

So now I'm stuck. Any thoughts?

another brain spasm

If you take the angles I came up with earlier, and impose them onto a square, numbering all the points at 45 degree angles, with 0 being 1 and 360 being 9, here is a revised list. The letter before each line is the corresponding letter on mod1 using the sum of the line. No idea if this does anything. I have a hunch that it might, since the highest combination (on line 14) is 26, but its pretty much a WAG at this point.

D 4
V 5 5 5 5 2
N 7 7
F 6
H 4 4
G 4 3

Answer i think

Ok, so I don't have enough credits to try and solve this one. Can someone else try
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We must bring in a group of outsiders

and see if it works?

It's making me nuts, and it will take about another week until I can try.

THANKS! And hopefully it's the right answer!!!

-edit- ok, that's not exactly the answer I came up with. When broken out, what it says is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
WEMUSTBRINGINAGROUPOFOUTSIDFRS
, so, i guess i'm not sure if there should be spaces, or no spaces. and if the f should really be an e and it was a screw up on their part.

quite simple, i think?????

Well, I think we all spent WWWWAAAAAYYYYY too much time thinking it through.....

If you look at it the way that baada did above, and then take those letters, reverse their place in the alphabet, voila!!!

can you answer me this though? - was it with spaces or without spaces???

I don't have the creds or the prest to try it, but that has to be it. I might be getting ahead of myself, but good job kayte. if you don't mind, what sparked the string of thought?

--edit--

Dunno what's wrong...I literally copied and pasted the entry from kayte.meyer

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We must bring in a group of outsiders

and it worked fine. Make sure you don't have excess spaces at the beginning and end--that could mess things up? It might require the capital letter at the beginning for now.

Smile. i figured out what happened. The first message you sent me said (in part) - "Will you do me a favor and try "we must bring in outsiders"?"

Which is exactly what I tried.

After trying it and responding to you you sent back another message - "What I figured out when I worked it out, is that it actually letter by letter says "WEMUSTBRINGINAGROUPOFOUTSIDFRS", but i figured they screwed up and the f should have been an e. go figure"

I should have noticed in the first message you said "we must bring in outsiders." In the second message the answer was different - it included 'a group of'.

Sigh. Doiiiiiii...

And MAJOR props to you and baada for figuring this out! Maybe now my boss won't fire me for letting my productivity dovetail to 0 as this puzzle slowly drained the life from my soul.

AHHH...

I had the line that baada had on the last page, I was too busy using anagram and too complicated alphabet substitutions to get that....
