UPDATE: Meg's Blog (Jan 25th #2)

Quote:
January 25, 2004

I went to see the doctor today. Looks like I was right to be concerned. The doctor has a small sonogram machine in his office and he did a short scan. The baby has grown much faster than anticipated. Heartrate is supposed to be around 120-160 beats per minute, and the baby's is 200. The doctor was amazed at the amount of activity he saw while doing the scan. He said he'd never seen anything like it before, and commented it was no wonder why I was uncomfortable. He wants me to go in for a 3D ultrasound ASAP. The closest place that does it is in Phoenix, which is a good drive from here, and the earliest I can get in is (Wednesday?). In the meantime my doctor is going to get his machine recalibrated to make sure it's functioning properly because the baby's heart rate and size are so far off of normal. If he hadn't done the early scan at 8 weeks and seen that my dates were spot on the money, he wouldn't have believed I'm only 18 weeks pregnant!

And no, Baby wouldn't sit still long enough for us to see whether we should say "he" or "she". Grumble!

I haven't told Jake anything yet. I don't want to say anything to upset him. I know some of you are in touch with him - please don't say anything! I'm having such terrible dreams at night, I hope I'm not keeping him up or anything. Last night was the worst. I was at the hospital in labor. They hooked me up to an IV bag. All of a sudden the nurses started shouting they used the wrong thing, that it was blood instead of saline. When they went to get another bag, it was all blood. The bags burst open in the drawer all at once. At the same time, I started bleeding from my eyes as the baby came out. There was nobody around me because of the IV problem and just as I leaned over to pick up the baby, all the lights went out and I couldn't find the baby anywhere. That's when I woke up.

This reminds me a tv series from Lars von Trier. The name must be something like "Empire" or similar. It's about a hospital, and a doctor's baby grows so fast they try to make abortion at 4 months, but the baby survives. He suffers from a rare disease and grows faster than normal. He also seems to be the child of an evil spirit living in the hospital.
