personal

it seems to me anytime one of us gets kinda personal they get personal. i say that cause fizz has said hes from the u.k and we get wimbeldon which leads too twinpeaks which has been posted here too...i still dont know about the owl link. theres a couple of links on that page that just says "IT WORKS" all i could find out about the owls is that they were used to convey spirits in the show some were good some were bad(some feed on fear some on love) and kinda like guardians to the black lodge and white lodge. also the real twin peaks is san fransico so maybe thats the next stop?

The owl is a symbol of wisdom. I'd say the owl represents the Doc. So if the owls aren't what they seem, the Doc isn't what he seems either.

all it says is "it works" theres more that do it too and most of links have either expired or are in german?dutch? i dunno. the link with "it works"

http://dns.jankovic.net/apache2-default/
dont know if this matters yet but "the" twin peaks are in san fransico maybe thats our next stop

a link to wikipedia explaining twinpeaks for those of us that dont know and it talks about the owls apparently there are just a metaphor for the visions he was having in the show(?)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_peaks there was also a characther in the show named DJ

and a better explanation of the owls

*tries very hard to remember what character was named DJ* Confused

omg You all know I will drool over any opportunity for this ARG to have any Twin Peaks connections at all. Very Happy Twin Peaks rocks my world.

I do think it's a really strange website to reach at that address. Hrm. Bobby's dad (General Briggs) gives Cooper this message (The Owls Are Not What They Seem). It's meant specifically for Cooper, and seems to be some kind of interrupted frequency that Briggs picked up while listening for alien communication. And, yes, it does seem to be a message from the spirits of the woods outside Twin Peaks, but that's not really ever confirmed. Owls are my favorite animal ever since Twin Peaks. Very Happy They're mostly frightening or at least creepy when you see them, since they often suggest that a bad spirit may be watching.

Also, I was under the impression that the real "Twin Peaks" location is in Washington state. Could be wrong about this, but they hold annual Twin Peaks conventions and things at the location where the show was filmed. I'm on my way out of town right now, so maybe someone can look this up?

Now -- SPOILER ALERT FOR TWIN PEAKS (in case you mean to watch the series some time):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Laura Palmer was killed by her father. That's what sets the entire series in motion.

Related?

*Edit: As I stood in the shower, I thought: Did I refer to Major Briggs as General Briggs??? Gah. So I jumped out and, very quickly before heading out of town, came here to correct this error. Major Briggs is a MAJOR. Sheesh, Mokey. Get your facts straight. Laughing

I agree with Schrijvertje that it's difficult to know what's ingame or not as we still have no clear idea as to the road we are on. My thinking is, if the Jankovic site is a genuine site what possible purpose would it serve? Would a man who posts his cv online boasting of his media skills produce something so lack lustre? If reference from Hendler's blog leads directly to a site that uses a phrase from a show we discussed on here it would be one of the grandest coincidences I have ever encountered.

Owls, of course, have huge symbolic overtones as mentioned: death, wisdom, the crone aspect of the Goddess, intermediaries between the living and the dead but owls are not mentioned randomly they are mentioned in direct context to their use in Twin Peaks so I believe it is their meaning within the context of the show that is important.

As Mokey has noted
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
there is an integral infanticide arc
to Twink Peaks, it truly is the starting part for the whole surreal mystery but more importantly, I believe, is the implication that this is the one of three clues that the protagonist failed to solve. I still think they are trying to tell us we have missed something but have no idea what.

I'm so hoping Marshal will reply to my email and maybe he will 'point' us in the next direction Crying or Very sad

A thought about this weird site:

There are a bunch of maps, but there's also a link to this person's Weblog, which has some entries as far back as February, 2005. However, he's made this mapping thing (that I don't really understand), and it's kind of interesting. Here's a bit from his blog:

Quote:
The new site is scheduled to launch today, and I hope it does. GeoURL is a geographic search engine that essentially links the location of Web sites using GPS coordinates. You could find out, for example, if your favorite blogger lives anywhere near you

I wonder if we were sent to this site for a reason? Kind of far-fetched... Eh. But still, I'm happy to go all over everything just to create random ties to The Great Lynch. Cool

I'm pretty sure that blog is just a copy of the book that was printed to go along with the show many years ago. Very cool, though. I didn't realize it was online. Cool I have the book here in my room, of course.

And since it is on that blog page, I'll go ahead and quote -- the most important life lesson anyone could ever learn, and it comes from Twin Peaks:

Quote:
Harry, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Everyday - once a day - give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. It could be a new shirt in a men's store, a cat-nap in your office chair, or two cups of hot black coffee.

Okay. I'm really heading out now. Very Happy

There's a list of churches in and around Cabazon at this link: http://california-services.org/cabazon/government-community/religion-spirituality/

I'm still rooting around for relevant stuff.

About the cross. It might not even be a church. Might be a ruin of some sort. It looks very Spanish/Mexican style, possible leftover from early settlers.

Hey Mokey, do you have the Dale Cooper tapes as well?

Okay, so this is how geoURL works. If the page is about you (such as your home page), the coordinates should be for your location. If the page is about some physical place, the coordinates should reflect that location. The location of your server itself is probably not that interesting.

So it's based on topic or content. That makes more sense, because I was first thinking about server location.

This would mean that the content of jankovic.net, being "the owls are not what they seem" is based in a fishing village named Sur, Oman, east of Saudi Arabia.

This thing works by looking at coördinates which are included in the source code of web pages, by using the meta tag ICBM.

I don't think we ever encountered this meta tag before. Perhaps we'll soon see it in the source code of a new page presented to us by Hendler or someone else, and then we'll be able to pinpoint its location.

Hi Guys,
I received a myspace reply from Hope Hendler. I sent her a message that referenced Twin Peaks in the hope that the PM's might gently guide us as to the nature of our current train of thought. She replies:

Quote:
Ha! My life is *nothing* like twin peaks. That's a TV show, right?

I'm noting the emphasis on *nothing* and wondering if it's a subtle clue that we have become misdirected and the mysterious site, whilst being admittedly odd, is not part of this mystery. She seems sure and certain her life is nothing like the show despite not seeming to know what it is.
Is she trying to tell us this is all *nothing*?

What do you guys think?

I agree with you. In fact, while I was out of town yesterday, I kept thinking there would have been some anagram of ORBITAS on the Owls site to let us know...
Eh.
(Note to PMs: It's not too late to include some Twin Peaks... you will get to see Mokey gush and jump and down with very silly joy) Laughing

Yes, btw, I do own the Cooper tapes. Cool You name it from Twin Peaks world, I probably own it. That was the greatest show ever to grace the small screen.

And -- can someone help me with that link McGritts posted for a DJ character? I'm nearly positive that's a fanfic character. He's not coming to my memory at all.

Okay, so we can officially *sniffs* give up on the Twin Peaks lead. Ah well. It was a fun tangent anyway. Cool

So... does that mean Hendler's post about Wimbledon had no purpose at all but for idle chit-chat (which I enjoy -- these characters are really growing on me)? Or were we supposed to get something else from it?
