hey Reedus, nother Riverside california type here. We need a game barbecue on my ranch sometime.
Anyhoo, what issue of Game Informer has the article about gaming?
Also, go check out the movie THE GAME with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. You will be glad you did.

I'm buying a copy now.

Yeah, I found this site by the article as well. I'd had some experience with the Perplex City original game, and was super pumped to jump on the beginning of Perplex City Season 2, only to find out it was 'indefinitely postponed'.
Either way, thank you GI, and I'm looking forward to a pleasurable experience here at unFiction!

Me Too I can see this eating up all of my spare time. I also found this site via Game Informer and it is really intriguing. I had never heard of such a thing. Unfortunately, I think I have stumbled onto a few bad examples to get started. I wanted to start a newer ARG and started one called The Organization. However, I think the PM is new because he/she was posting to the thread in an attempt to help. The spelling and puncuation on the blogs that are a part of the ARG are pretty annoying as well. It makes it look like a kid is running it. I also thought I would follow along on one of the bigger ones, Iris, but that one seems to have stalled and the players are getting a bit annoyed. I will have to try the one that was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Yeah, you sometimes play an ARG and it's just not very good. But for every poorly run ARG, there is a good one. Keep trying--pretty soon you'll find something that interests you!
I'm still waiting for Hazel Grian's next ARG, personally.

Re: found this via GameInformer magazine new to ARGs

heya! I'm relatively new to ARGs. I played majestic a few years back and I was bummed when it was cancelled so quickly. I didn't know there was a whole network of these games until I recently read an article about them in the recent gameinformer mag (as I'm sure you'll be hearing that a lot in the coming weeks). anyway, as my life is now, I don't have massive amounts of time and resources to devote to a game, nor am I a 1337 h4xx0r, so I'm looking for something fairly simple and easy to jump into. I apologize if I'm not posting this in the correct forum. anyway, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
When short on time I would recommend playing Jamie Kane. It's a single player ARG that lasts two weeks with daily installments that only take a couple of minutes. Excellent Flash programming, too :

Good to know that Game Informer is at least good for something if not for game reviews

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm in this group too. As soon as I read that people were willing to write a book in the name of a fictional character I was sold.

Yes, Jamie Kane is a great introduction to ARGs. IMO, it should be required playing for all new ARGers.
