I'm going to be rude and skip over reading all of that text and request a summary. I'm sure everyone enjoys reading their own individual personalized emails and private exchanges, but reading someone else's conversation is a bit like reading chat logs. If there is some story progression in there, I'll probably miss it.
Feel free to ignore this request.
No, that's fine. Basics are that I asked her about the updates to the Boil file. She got concerned about what they could mean, and then we both sort of panic for a bit. We try to get a hold of him and reassure each other, and try to figure out what to do, and then she gets the bad news. Consolation followed by moderate anger at BA, wanting to know what she knows, followed by me wondering/worrying about all the other sentries. That's the gist of it.

I just noticed something. This is kind of starting to correspond with the painting... The Asylum=Bryce, The man hanging=Kevin... I wonder if someone is going to get hit by a car=the garage?
Sorry, guys, I need some time to think about this...

It's the Lovecraft story coming to life? The monster in the painting is in the computers?

Better hope not.

What else in the painting can we identify for hints to who might be next? It all seemed generic to me- other then the hanging man and Chluthu

The young woman crying on her knees towards the end of the line might be one of the SO ladies.
BA is most likely the cat watching from the rooftop across the street (and she says as much in one of the older posts).
It'd be nice if we had that missing hunk of the picture.
she also made reference to the dude in the blue shirt in the line...

I don't think we know how it happened exactly. I'll see if I can ask Marie without being crass. Feel free to ask on the boards, of course.
ETA: I got a response from Marie. He did hang himself.

If we take another look at Kevin's work page , we see that his photos correspond to the watercolor painting . There's:
1. Kevin's angular high rise photo and what I'm guessing is R'lyeh risen in the upper right hand corner of the painting.
2. People standing in a line.
3. Kevin's photo of hanging chimes...an allusion to the hanging figure (Kevin) in the painting.
There's still two photos left on Kevin's site, but I'm not sure what they're trying to tell us...if anything. I wonder if Kevin was trying to communicate something subconciously or was his fate guided by an unseen hand?

nice observation, BlueK! You may be on to something there.

I don't know about the first image (chapelhill.jpg) but the image in the "Future" section is titled "wall.jpg". Could this be a reference to the wall that B.A. finds in her dreamworld?

This made me revisit the watercolor, which I hadn't looked at closely in a long time.
We've noticed the black cat on the wall before, and we've also noticed that the watercolor was signed with the initials DC, but I hadn't really considered the fact that the initials "DC" are actually on the wall:
http://bsuwiki.arghive.com/Image:Watercolor-rowan.jpg
This is interesting in light of the Craigslist postings that describe the wall with initials on them:
Quote:
The Wall is on the far side of the city. It's a popular place. People come to make their mark and to see who has left theirs. It's an ever-changing piece of street art - the public version of the bathroom stall.
.
.
.
Under his message, I add my own touch - B A
Quote:
The longer I look, the more I understand that feeling.
Finally, I see it. Surrounded by a half a dozen cartoon cats.
I changed the wall.
Quote:
I see you sitting on the wall down by the garage.
Looking at me.
Waiting for me.
So we have initials on the wall... cat drawings on the wall... and someone sitting on the wall by the garage waiting. Seems to correspond to me!

I had actually assumed that the tower in the distance was www.SentryOutpost.com, and that we were the folks in-line. (I also believe that R'lyeh is either deep under the ocean, or way beneath the desert somewhere. But who knows.)
Also, if you remember, the earlier posts indicated that those in line were proceeding into the hills, where B.A. was eventually turned away. (This location now appears in our MUD).
I was actually curious as to whether or not the thewall.jpg on Kevin's site might have something hidden in it, but I don't have the slightest idea how to pull buried information out of an image..i mean, B.A. did say she could change it, no?..

OBS...this is why I'm leaning towards that obelisk-like thing beingR'lyeh.
Quote:
When R'lyeh rises in Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu" (1928), the only portion of the city that emerges is a single "hideous monolith-crowned citadel" in which Cthulhu is entombed. The human onlookers awed by the sheer immensity of the city and by the frightening suggestiveness of the gargantuan statues and bas-reliefs.
The city is a panorama of "vast angles and stone surfaces ... too great to belong to anything right and proper for this earth, and impious with horrible images and disturbing hieroglyphs." The geometry of R'lyeh is "abnormal, non-Euclidean, and loathsomely redolent of spheres and dimensions apart from ours."

OBS, I'm a bit conflicted as to this part of the painting. I had assumed the large, blue objects over Cthulhu's shoulder were incoming waves; tossed up from Cthulhu rising, perhaps from the harbor. There are even parts of the white buildings where the "waves" seem to be enveloping the buildings. A closer look shows that what appear to be enveloping waves are, in actuality, damage points on the white buildings. I believe the blue objects aren't waves, but are mountains...the hills that people are fleeing to. Nice touch tho, "painting in" the ambiguity.
Sid...funny that you mention the wall. I've been staring at that pic, thinking it's mimicking an album cover. Can't place it for the life of me.
