Hi guys,

I figured I'd put up my correspondence with Hope- there's some icanhascheezburger stuff and she talks about her dad a bit too.

Gosh she's written heaps.
Certainly the replies help clarify a few matters. There is nothing particularly major between Hope and Hendler, simply the usual family highs and lows that all of us encounter. She talks almost fondly of her father in her letter to Marnut so I guess we can lay some of our conspiracy theories to rest with regards to the nature of their estrangement.

We also get some information with regards to the mysterious Marshal in that Hope knows him and is familiar enough to visit him when in need. We've already established that he thinks very little of Hendler but we still have no idea why he counts a man he considers a 'dick' amongst his heroes. It also strikes me as odd that she names him to Mokey as if we are supposed to know who she is referring to. It would have been more appropriate to simply write a friend unless Marshall has made her aware that one of us has already made contact with him. Could Marshal be the chap she refers to in her youtube video 'Port In A Storm?' would certainly explain why Marshal is receiving astronomical data from Hendler if he too were a scientist.

I know it may be arg suicide but I'm relaxing with my analysis of Hope's 'video diary'. I've come to accept that she isn't encoding clues in either the music, the titles or the videos themselves but is simply recording her life, allowing us to glean nuggets of information about her family dynamic from reading between the lines. I pay less attention to the music etc. these days and more to the unfolding story of Hope and Hendler.
It appears to me that we can firmly conclude that the schism isn't really between Hope and her father but between Dr. Hendler and Marshal. Our original zest for a darksome arc of infanticide and parental malevolence looks far less likely. There's a great fondness expressed in both Hope and Hendler's words. If there is a huge and multilayered mystery here it is between Marshal and Hendler. Other than that this has more the feel of a soap opera than a solar-apocalyptic-homicidal-eschaton than I originally believed.
All the same I'm loving it. Big Marshal fan here by the way: don't know why but I'm a little fizz-fixated.

Don't apologise Mcgritts for getting unsure about something. I'm unsure about everything, we all are. You've done some great work, have some faith mate!

*Fizz and Mokey stand united on the Twin Peaks front. Maybe just a little hint, a smell, a cherry pie, maybe even a silent but wise log?*

WILD SPECULATION: There is Schumann registered as a Youtube member. The only video he/she has uploaded is of his/her puppy. Kinda got my attention as reminiscent of Hope's videos. I have sent a polite message on the off chance this has any part to play in the scheme of things.

Not sure about that, McGritts. I don't believe you can alter your source code with Blogger, but then again, I'm not much use in the webby area.

I'd noticed you'd started to like Marshall best, Fizz! It's fun to get a favorite character. Hope's mine for the moment, but I figure we've yet to see her in action, so we'll see how it goes!
