Well, StegDetect on Sensitivity 5.00 says there's a JPHIDE in all of those except BlueRectangle2, including the one from bungie.

I don't have the tools to run any sort of serious attack on passwords, but I'll try a few.

These may be false positives, but it's worth a try.

EDIT: Tested the Bungie one posted above me, another positive for JPHIDE. This seems kinda out there, honestly, but it sure would be a lot of false positives.

I'm hoping something comes of this and I haven't led us astray. However, it's odd that a media company like IGN would allow screenshots that have these artifacts to be posted, especially considering the high quality versions I'm sure they were provided. That said, I have never seen errors of this type when working with images and compressing them to JPEGs. It just seems off to me and looks like a hint.

EDIT: Also, in the screens of Epitaph, did anyone else notice that it appears to be code flying in the background? It's similar to Cortana.

As for the pictures being stegged.

only the two pictures I posted about are on Bungie at this time. The other two pictures are not there as of yet. We got two riddles from AR last week. The Veins of Ice and Posion one and the post he made right before that ...i think it was called a Pulse ....perhaps the answers to these riddles are the passwords?

I think ive got something

ok so my mom is a great graphic designer and reminded me that red, green, and blue are the colors that form digital images (RGB) as this is the case, if the the images, or the rectangles were all layered together to form one image, or all the boxes were put together, the color would be black. i think that if this is done, and then messed with somehow, the boxes could reveal someting, like putting special ink on a map and revealing a secret passage. i know that when i play some comp games that if i messed with the RGB bar, the images went either black of white (the two extremes on either end of the meter, and then theres everywhere in btwn. i think this is the answer to the pictures or the way to reveal whatever those boxes are there for

I'm not an expert at this, so someone else may have more luck than I at it, but has anyone considered looking through these pictures for the mysterious Rogue Process AR referred to in Veins of Ice and Poison? qghost.713 This seems as good a place to store it away as any...

Could the sizes of the boxes be an IP address?

166x75
172x68
172x33
141x30

Unfortunately the JPG makes the edges of the boxes hard to determine, but none come close to exceeding 255 (max value for an IP).

Just a thought.

I overlaid all the pictures... First problem, RGB is a three part composition and we have 4 pictures. I tried with both blue rectangles in the blue channel... No joy

Second idea, I tried combining into a CMYK image (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) but I had trouble figuring which image would be which channel. Also lead to nothing.

Third idea, overlaying the rectangles in their appropriate channels, gave this one a go and nothing seemed to come of it. As said, it just creates something white having all the colours together.

Any other ideas anyone?
